I very much appreciated your remarks about Jackie. I will never forget that winter morning when I turned on the computer and the camera on the nest showed a tremendous pile of snow. Suddenly it began to move, and Jackie’s white head poked through and then her back, and then the rest of her. She stood there, shaking it off all that snow to take a look at the two eaglets beneath her. Such dedication and determination to care for her young continues to stay with me. It was a joy and a pleasure watching her and Shadow, Sunny and Gizmo, Luna and Sandy. The kids have left the nest and Shadow remains, and we hope to see him back on the nest with another partner some day. it has truly been a great pleasure these last two years, watching this wild family.

Your water-running is an excellent analogy to life today. What's scary is that the vast majority of us go about the sane option of fixing things just the way you describe how your family dynamics approach issues. Can any problems be fixed without sanity?
