AND NOW, EVEN THE WONDERFUL, BEAUTIFUL GAME IS SPOILED BY TRUMP DEMANDING AND RECEIVING A FAVOUR, THAT PHONE CALL SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED AND FIFA AGREEING TO ALTER A GAME CALL IS NOTHING BUT SHAMEFUL, SHAME ON THE ASKER AND SHAME ON THE GIVER. I WON'T SEE THE GAME AS ANYTHING BUT CORRUPTIBLE FROM THIS TIME ON. MUST YOU RUIN EVERYTHING, YOU WORTHLESS POS.
If global public outpourings are any indicator, most people see this as corruption at the highest levels. A dubious ref call should not be open to FIFA's nullification days after the game because one crook pulls strings with another.
The U.S. team effort is now tainted despite no fault of the players or coach. It’s a dilemma for the coach: if he benches the affected player to make a principled point, and the team loses, he’ll be vilified for choosing a “high road” when he didn’t need to. If the player saves the day, the team and coach will be booed as if they took advantage of insider corruption.
When the first, incomplete story of the red card reversal came out, my husband accused me (lovingly) of creating a conspiracy theory because I said I bet tRump called Gianni. Lo and behold....
The fact that 90+% of knowledgeable soccer people agree that it should not have been a red card will not be remembered. Only the taint of tRump's interference will be remembered. And like his interference and ridiculous war in Iran puts a target on every American's back, the American players, especially Balogun , will carry a tainted target on theirs in thevrest of their games.
I am not saying that the the loss of lives in Iran compares to a soccer game, but only making the point that tRump taints everything. Everything. And now, the best team the US has ever fielded will carry the taint through no fault of their own.
"For the record, I was rooting for Cabo Verde. A tiny island nation punching its way into the World Cup imagination is the good stuff." I was too! They played so well! The Mexico-England game yesterday was also fantastic, with England a man down almost the entire second half and still managing to hold off a relentless offensive by Mexico.
Balogun was sent off in the 68th minute. That meant that the US played without him for about half of the 2nd half and still won. While I think the red card was too harsh, I am appalled at Trump's interference and FIFA's decision.

Trump is disgusting and ruinous - again.
I’ll repeat the standing statement of today ( from me) .
The BS is now Bait and Switch…and America is last to catch on….
