The Trumpology Glossary

A recording by Shanley Hurt and Mary Geddry

What if Donald Trump’s rhetoric had its own dictionary?

Welcome to Trumpology: a tongue-in-cheek study of the language, spectacle, and self-promotion surrounding Donald Trump. From “Trumponomics” and “Trumpometrics” to “Trumpsplaining,” we work through a satirical glossary exploring inflated achievements, conveniently shrinking costs, gold-covered grandeur, and those endlessly recycled superlatives.

Then we explore the history behind the joke. How did names become words like “maverick,” “boycott,” and “gerrymander”? How do familiar words change meaning, or even come to mean their opposite? And could “Trump” eventually describe a style or behavior long after the man himself?

It’s a conversation about political language, wordplay, and the struggle to define a legacy, with plenty of laughter along the way.
