But, again, the real question always comes up: Why does he have so many voters pulling the lever or checking the box for him? I guess the question has two basic answers: 1) He is appealing to an electorate that is already conditioned not to understand the difference between facts and fiction; fantasy and reality. ...He is a creature whose existence and popularity is created and maintained by the lowest primitive urges and projected childish dreams of an increasingly deluded public... As if tens of millions of Americans were little children and somehow, in the telling of national fairy-tale, confused the Dragon with the Prince...
2) Going even further into the woods... The assumption that, given the "truth", supplied with the actual facts of any given situation, the innate goodness and decency of the American voter will function automatically and they will do the right thing.
This is the REAL fairy-tale... Once in a while, partially by luck and partially because the structure of country itself supplies an actual hero, the best in us rises to the top-- Generally, with Trump as the historically best example, the scum rises to the top and gets a free pass and even applause from a public that either doesn't know any better or is too consumed by greed and fatal narrow-mindedness to know the difference.
If we are allowed to have a free and fair election this fall, and if we purge the system of this infection, the true question is: How do we keep it from happening again?
