Charles arrives in Washington to celebrate America’s 250th birthday while Trump threatens allies, courts Putin, rattles NATO, and reminds the world that nostalgia is not a strategy.
King Charles should not be coming. The Brits should have cancelled the visit and made any excuse. By coming here now in the middle of the orange obscenity's illegal war, he is condoning all that is being done both in the Middle East and all the domestic policies that are being carried out here. If he has to come he needs to make clear policy statements about the United Kingdoms soverign position in the world and of the clear and present danger presented by an unstable and erratic United States on the domestic and world stage.
Believe me, Charles doesn't want to come and the vast majority of he British people think the visit should be cancelled. However, the visit was set up in good faith some time ago to celebrate the 250th and canceling would do much more harm than going ahead. Charles will do the usual royal diplomatic thing and come home, hopefully unscathed.
RScott. Good faith means nothing to Trump. He tears up (breaks) agreements all the time. It's the foundation of his business plan. Charles should cancel his trip just to highlight the irony of it. Plus, he gets to put a thumb in the eye of the 250th celebration, the grandiosity of which means so much to Trump's super-sized ego.
When Mark Rutte (head of NATO) was in Washington to meet with trump a few weeks ago I watched him interviewed on CNN after the meeting and he was FAR too syncophant-ish in his comments. I expected more backbone and much less 'very good meeting, very productive' after all that's gone on. trump has been abundantly clear in showing everyone who and what he is. Pope Leo isn't fawning ... good for him. King Charles is going to be stoic and polite because he is a proper monarch and trump is going to be trump. A wasted trip and trump will read it as being an esteemed president ... no one should give him anything that he can perceive as respect or honour or power. Trip should be cancelled in my opinion. Now if the King was going to candidly drill down on the Epstein Files and Andrew's involvement, that could make for interesting conversation for the fly on the wall.
If Putin is attending the G20, all the rest should cancel and the meeting should be rescheduled in a country where Putin can't go. The authority figures need to be authoritative!!! Stop being polite and politically correct and stop feeding the power-hungry monster with the flavours and tastes of power. Start doing what's right for the 'good guys'!!!
We didn’t want him to go either, but he is a political pawn. However, I’d love to hear what is said on the plane back to London. Bet it will make the paint peel.
If you go back and watch that last handshake you might notice what I did, that Pres. Trump was delivering a crushing grip, the King's hand was red, President Trump held tight and even used his left hand to pat the back of the king's hand...
The whole visit was a well designed act, and the President struck the last blow.. physically.
I'm thinking of signing in to Polymarket to place a bet that Trump doesn't make it through the king's visit without falling asleep in meeting. I'm also wondering whether the G20 will be a G single digit. I hope Carney develops diplomatic flu.

Fortunately the King is above politics. He represents the country, not the government.
There is a huge outcry about his going to the USA at this time, but it will not be called off. The King will do his duty.

Superb…will there be actual fireworks?
Where does trump even get these ideas? The Falklands?
okay, “DW’’ correspondent? Deutsche Welle is my assumption, but? Knowing source really helps to add context

Why would Charles bother , bide the time, this will soon be history and a big cleanup period. Keep the momentum up, folks ‘cause the show will go on !
Trump to invite his butt buddy Putin to the G20. Really!
He needs to get a face to face with his handler.

I’d love to be a fly on the wall!
