I remember a trip to Hawaii following 9/11. Entering the airport there by passing men in uniforms carrying huge firearms the feeling was chilling. Even though it made sense for them to be there, it cast a pall over our entire trip. Imagine that at the polls, and how it would effect voters.

Everyone I talk with is going thru the same daily dilemmas, Shanley. Things that seem like they ought be simple preparations for a task ... because they used to be ... are now complicated and fraught with disappointment and frustration beyond imagination and tolerance. Products don't work, people are unreliable, calls are not returned, instructions are incorrect, services are not as promised, prices are increasing, good manners and general kindness are MIA, our food is unhealthy, our social systems can't be trusted, weather is something to be feared, etc. At 72 I find myself saying way too often 'back in the old days ...' but seriously, too much added complexity has permeated everyday life. Having to consider so many choices and a multitude of opinions with an open mind has gone beyond beneficial. Sources of harm are increasing in every sector of daily living. Now this morning the headlines on my phone have added more examples to the new unfolding saga of what AI is infiltrating on it's own initiative. Earlier this week I read about the Australian Healthcare system breach. Of course the reporting is just a fraction of the whole. There is comfort and peace of mind in 'Trust'. I rarely feel that sense of ease anymore.
