"Trump held a bizarrely warm Oval Office meeting with New York City’s mayor-elect, Zohran Mamdani, the 34-year-old democratic socialist Trump was calling a “little communist...”

When I heard about Trump's wildly uncharacteristic flip-flop, all I could think was what Stephen Miller must be thinking... the loyal Gruppenführer Nazi who wanted Mamdani deported now caught between feeling betrayed and yet forcing himself to get in line.

At least for now, we get a little schadenfreude.

Marz is all-knowing when it's break time and you are wise to obey. Just enough informational feedback today to satisfy our appetite for the absurdities of yesterday and leave us trusting our instincts on the character of Alito (BUM), Trump (Narcissistic behavior that turns on a dime), and MTG (still the villain we knew from the start). What a day! Smiling with you and hoping you and Marz have a lighthearted and satisfying day! Enjoy, Mary!

Dogs give us the opportunity to decompress somehow they just know..

There was a 6 out of 9 chance of one of those Supreme’s to put a temporary hold on a lower court order that would have blocked Texas from rolling out its new congressional map.

It just so happens to be Samuel Alito. Alito did not explain his decision to impose an administrative stay, which is a "time out" to freeze the status quo in place to allow the justices time to consider the matter and says nothing about the actual merits of the dispute.

Alito's order Friday evening came less than an hour after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and attorneys for the state filed an emergency petition with the Supreme Court seeking to preserve the state's controversial mid-decade redistricting plan, aimed at securing five more Republican seats in the House of Representatives.

For all the platitudes for leaving the House of Representatives that was in that 10 minute video from Marjorie Taylor Greene and if may feel she came to her senses and grew up or whatever would say… a “wolf” is still a “wolf” in “sheep” clothing…

“When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time” Maya Angelou’s words, have always taken this to heart.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene as she announced her resignation from the U.S. House of Representatives, effective January 5, 2026. She is expected to receive a full congressional pension because her resignation date ensures she will have completed the required five years of service.

The pension amount is a deferred, in an annuity until the former Member reaches the age of 62, at which point it becomes a full annuity. A typical annual pension for a member with five years of service is estimated to be around $8,700. Now depending on the annuity who knows what MTG makes for just those volatile 5 years.

Greene was first elected in November 2020 and took office on January 3, 2021. By resigning on January 5, 2026, she will have served for just over five years.

Nothing like a few days buffer to collect that pension…

Enjoy your day of sanity, whatever it entails. As you wisely note, it will be saner than anything MAGA.

Interesting notes re MTG:

1. She spent five years as one of the mouthiest MAGA nuts in Congress and did not have to worry about threats from the left. She spends five weeks carving out some independence from Trump and is driven from Congress by death threats from the right.

Where does violence come from in the US?

2. Her resignation will occur days after her rights to a life-long pension vest. Coincidence? Perhaps not. She's a very stupid woman, but apparently not that stupid.

Whenever I see a federal judge has done anything that thwarts Trump, I remind myself "...yes, until Trump takes it to his Supreme Court."

Can SC justices be impeached? removed from the bench? Inquiring minds wanna know...

They can be impeached, but of course would need the same events as the President, i.e. majority of the House, 2/3 of the Senate. Neither is going to happen before the 2027-8 Congress is sworn in, if then.
