I doubt trump has all that much of an idea of what is going on. I suspect his reality testing is markedly deficient and that his cabinet of repulsive and unrepentant sycophants tell him only what he wants to hear. He seems a parrot for Stephen Miller, believing all the time that his sweeping actions and proclamations arise from his own dehiscent mind. He probably actually believes that the economy is booming, the people are delighted, and the world both fears and envies him. It is really quite Shakespearean when you think about it. Unfortunately, this is reality. And we all are being dragged down by his and his puppet master's madness.

I trust Marz is doing his job to provide moments of joy amidst the darkness ;-) And, thank you.

I echo Victoria’s’ comments and add (as a grandmother I know this to be true) that grandchildren hugs and grandbaby smiles at the sound of your voice can offset the darkness in researching and following the facts for your reporting. I know how bad I feel reading about what is happening to Americans and our rule of law by our government for a wanna be dictator.

This horror show of blowing up boats and killing people - if war has not been declared, can Trump still be charged with war crimes?

He can be charged with that and a whole litany of charges but until his Republican henchman (Congress) are voted out of office and his Supreme Court judges (who aren’t upholding the Constitution) are impeached, only then can he be brought to justice. And all those in his cabinet and inner circle being paid by taxpayer money need to held accountable also.

You do sum up a lot of dark happenings for us. This new awareness that you provide makes me angry, not sad. It makes me want to get involved, raise others awareness, speak out, and get out the vote.

I’m reminded of Yale fascism scholar Timothy Snyder’s admonition that we not “obey in advance” and instead make authoritarians fight for every inch of territory in their war against the Constitution’s bill of rights, separation of powers, rule of law and intent that no president have kingly powers.

Voting Yes on and donating to support California’s Prop 50 is a strategic response to Trump state redistricting that ensures Democrats can’t win the House in 2026 if not countered. Participating in peaceful No Kings protests on October 18 is another impactful act. Supporting Democrats running for office - and non-MAGA judges in PA - also helps.

Thanks again for this morning’s edition. I wish there was a quick, easy fix. Time, however, to indeed not be silent.

Yes, we can make our voices heard and protest in multiple ways. Disney will not have the pleasure of my family visiting their Florida resorts and parks and I’ve dropped Disney+ subscription. The money I’m saving will go to 2026 candidates.

We are beyond Nietzshe’s “stare into the abyss…” The abyss has consumed us. In Turley’s book on the First Amendment, he spoke out on the wrongness of “seditious libel.” It being speech running counter to the regime’s message. Kimmel is the latest to fall. Labeling the amorphous “antifa” a terrorist organization is the next. No outrage, just the usual acquiescence from the GOP. At least Turley has spoken out against the current assault on the First Amendment.

The fact is these administrative sycophants repeat the message over and over, its word water-boarding Facist style.

So I’m wondering how Substack can avoid the wrath? No funding from The Fed. Is that the real Poison Pill. Trump et al can cancel because they own the FCC? I’m sure..well, but are we sure..that Jimmy was losing the group money? Has anyone heard a denial?

Love the boycotting, know it works…but I’m not a TV watcher per se but PBS and a little CBS, don’t do subscriptions Disney Plus-the like. Not supporting Bezos ..or any like…part of that dang “old hippie” group.

I actually like Trumps idea of bringing back ‘USA made’..do I think he is delusional…I’d bet you know my answer..that ‘selling out or shipping out’ was done long ago, made a lot of people rich. And I’m not objecting to passing around that US wealth , if it’s not sweat shops. Bernie is saying $20 an hour..is our cost of living standards too high? I’d surmise most of the rest of the world lives more …prudently. But a lot of people are starving..that there is enough to ‘go around’ is key…that there’s plenty could be done to address climate change..or any one of the myriad of other serious issues…but it’s the ballroom, not the young white male killers, it’s the radical lefties ,not the elite sex trafficking mongers…are we still talking about that?

Has anyone in this White House figured out many of the angry, white voters who always vote R use Medicaid and Obama's health coverage plan?

The speaker, Mike Johnson says that’s a partisan poison pill of an idea. You talk like healthcare is a basic human need.
