Ah, let's hear it for the "gift" of sarcasm and truth telling. Thanks for your reporting with humor, which is all that Our Mad King Donald the 1st deserves and RK doesn't even deserve that much respect. I reported online that the Pfizer vax saved my life and the idiot trolls jumped-in to challenge me, a retired 80 yo PHYSICIAN. The world of Tramp and Kennedy is upside down.
Pam Bondi and the others who have reviewed the Epstein files know all the sordid details of Trump's involvement. They know they are defending a man who raped young girls. There are no words harsh enough to describe how disgusting this is.
So in the East Wing of the White House, people will be waltzing under golden ceilings and in the West Wing people will be at monitor boards launching nuclear missiles???? Will someone please get a straight jacket and take it to the Oval Office?
When I heard about escapades on WH roof I thought, now that's funny. Didn't think true. For a party in WH during initial Covid and knows a million people in America died, having rfk, jr in charge is more than reckless. Do you suppose wanting the weakest and oldest to die is part of the current plan?
Meanwhile, on planet Earth, in Hiroshima at 8:15 this August 6th morning a siren wailed, a bell rung, and all stood silent for a minute. Here we have a feckless man stalking above the White House attic. Just a week ago, he announced to Russia he was “repositioning” nuclear warhead missile laden submarines near Russia. Dangerous rhetoric. Fortunately for us, Musk has taken a first step to terraform Mars. And, from HHS I suspect RFJ jr will use the $550M saved from mRNA research to build a large chapel from which to issue thoughts & prayers to future pandemic victims. I’m already missing the roses subsumed by a concrete slab.
The daily news sure convinces most of us that we can’t solve all the problems we have – Big Junk Food, Big Pharma, Big War Machine, Big Tech, Wall Street, Climate Change, and the partisan acrimony that prevents the Us from collaborating with the Them to solve these problems.
But wait – doesn’t each of the above result from some combination of four structural problems in our country? Namely:
• Corporate money runs DC and state capitals
• Centralized media doesn’t tolerate dissent
• Americans have never heard how Citizens Assemblies composed of randomly chosen people can solve complex socio-political problems, and we never learned in school why the parliamentary system is more balanced than our current presidential system
• Voters in democracies around the world are discouraged because our current attempts to influence our electeds – via demonstrations, letters to the editor, and voting – hardly change anything.
Imagine our world if Big Everything quit wrecking lives!
Government famously can’t fix itself. But people can fix their governments.
“Impossible,” you’re thinking. I thought so too, until I read a book that shows step by step how to clean up government and set fair limits on corporations.
It’s titled: THE MECHANICS OF CHANGING THE WORLD — POLITICAL ARCHITECTURE TO ROLL BACK STATE AND CORPORATE POWER.
The author, John Macgregor, distills 1300+ sources and 8 years of work into 400 pages. He takes us all the way back to prehistoric hunter gatherers’ egalitarian self-governance. Then we discover the first documented democracy – the 65 years of Athens’ Golden Age. After a mere 2400-year interlude of empires, we witness the second flowering of democracy in Philadelphia, at a closed-door meeting during May and June of 1787, which produced a constitution adopted a year later.
Despite the flaws in that document, we ended slavery, reduced oppression of First Nations, established the national park system, and extricated ourselves from wars that we didn’t want to fight. Women got the vote, Jim Crow was made illegal, hungry children were fed.
It was impossible, however, for the Founding Parents to foresee the four modern obstacles above. That’s why Thomas Jefferson proclaimed, “The earth belongs always to the living generation... Every constitution, and every law, naturally expires at the end of 19 years. If it be enforced longer, it is an act of force and not of right."
Like so many of us, John Macgregor isn't in this for the money; he set the price of the hard copy and the digital book as low as possible, https://books2read.com/thirddraft, earning a magnificent 28¢ per book sold.
We can regain our constitutional democracy, and we can stop Pandemic Racketeering (and also prevent gerrymandering, government waste, suppression of free speech, environmental disasters, and corporate pollution of food, soil, air, and water).
Ask not how to correct these problems; ask how to prevent such problems in the first place.
I don't argue with anyone that has been helped by a vaccine, vaccines are very useful. But, do you really believe that children require more than 30 vaccines before age of 18 to survive on this planet? Most adults these days make it into their 70-80's and above on less than 8.
And then there is the Covid vaccine that the hospitals reported the people that died WITH covid. which the media portrayed as the population that died FROM covid, big difference. Oh, and then there is the part that vaccines are one of the only things that pharmaceuticals cannot be sued for, for causing harm to another human. Go Figure$
Donald Trump is our best example of an emotionally insecure male trying to feel good about himself by being mean and controlling at others expense and lives.
If the population didn't put people with money up on a pedestal and called out the assholes as assholes, I believe the world would be a better place.

Sadly, yes unless one is old enough (say 7) and well enough to be a “unit of work” for the little recompense from the oligarchs.

Good addition to this discussion. Thank you for your service.

There's some compelling new info on Epstein's death from his brother:

Sigh
