Maybe Americans should start considering whether depleting our military arsenals, the destroying of military bases and equipments etc, possibly inviting, say Saudi Arabia, or even someone like Eric Prince, to start overtaking our country? We have measles epidemics, we have foods being contaminated, we have a financial/housing crisis etc, etc. Just wondering… third world countries are constantly being overtaken by power hungry morons and we are dealing with possibly the sickest one in Washington DC right now

I accidentally got into a debate with my elderly neighbor, a man I respected, about Trump. When he said even Palestinian children should die I kinda lost it. Let’s just say it ended with him telling me I’m not an American. It confirmed my belief that Trump supporters are equally responsible for the chaos happening right now.

I grew up with a certifiably insane parent--often, sadly, out of her mind and even dangerous--when she wasn't in a psychiatric hospital. It's very, very hard to see the "leader" of my country descend into such and extreme form of self-destruction. If it was just one household that had to deal with his destructive nuttiness, that's bad enough. But I haven't worked most of long life to achieve balance and then by subjected, once again, to the madness of the President.
In the end, its a matter of procedure I guess-- There should be some evidence that he is incapable of doing this job-- But this doesn't have to be just clinical... Any child knows Trump is mean and so self-involved that he's in another world. What simply remains is that we use our common sense. As your essay mentions--in several ways--Trump's insanity is dragging the whole world into his circle of self-destruction. Time to impeach him and get him our of office--just to protect our own lives and preserve some kind of viable future for the planet... As the law, which determines whether a judge can involuntarily commit someone says: "He is a clear danger to himself and others."

Difficult to tell, but it would appear that a very large percentage of trump's actions are either self-serving or to stroke his ego (the former being monetary, the latter emotional insecurities). the remaining decisions seem to be just stupid. the decisions around tariffs and the middle east seem to be a combination of the two. Any person with a modicum of knowledge about how the world works could play out all the risks of attacking Iran. Iran sits on the Strait of Hormuz. Iran controls the Houthi rebels. our own intelligence community stressed that Iran was not an immediate threat. attacking Iran runs the significant risk of terrorist attacks at home. Iran knows, we know, my cat knows that by Iran attacking neighboring countries, the United States is put in an awkward position. we have alienated pretty much everyone in the middle east, and now Saudi Arabia, a necessary ally in the area is unhappy with us. our strings continually get pulled by Israel while they continue to move further and further toward a rogue nation status. all this while things unwind and rot at home. voters in the midwest and south, hurt by his policies with tariffs, Canada, beef, and the cost of fuel are all feeling taken advantage of, like no one could have foreseen any of this... the truth of how low our weapons supplies are, how much damage has been done to these bases, whether these countries will allow us to stay, and the cost of injured and killed remain hidden. all the while the Ukrainians, Russians, and Iranians demonstrate how new wars are to be fought, we are sinking money into huge battleships, slow, floating targets, relics of the type of war that ended in the 1950s. AI is not a threat, drones are not a threat, blocking straits and blowing up oil pipelines are not threats because donald chooses to believe that they are not... or finds it inconvenient to recognize them as threats.. we are digging a deeper and deeper hole with our national debt while simultaneously shutting down international trade and risking the loss of the US dollar serving as the international trading standard... and yet there are still wads of people adoring this man, supporting him and his gang of incompetents and criminals. my brain bleeds...
No, yes, no. Sounds like he maybe got a call from his Russian handler. We all know he is not capable of rational decision making. We have evidence of that with just the illegal tariffs. Foreign fighting, bombs and American service members are more complicated. He is obviously not equipped to handle that and he has gotten rid of all the adults that could give him solid advice.

Well said! Trump has happily dug this hole, much as he’s done with the East Wing. He’s far better at digging holes than at filling them.
