Thank you.. another lovely. In doing grandmother duty during a particularly contentious soccer game between 11-year old teams Saturday, one player on a team was taking too much time struggling with tying his shoelace in the middle of play. Suddenly a boy from the opposing team quietly walked to him, knelt and tied it for him. Not any huge deal just one person helping another. A brief image to hold onto. My thought “there’s a bit of hope that things might change as Shanley writes about.” Those brief moments of hope have become so very helpful in the current chaotic distressing days and need acknowledgement.
Happy Mother's Day, Shanley. Thank you for the beautiful essay. I am happy to hear that things are going well for you and your family. I think it is incumbent on all of us to have the audacity to hope and to share that hope. In these dark times, hope is necessary.
This beautiful piece of prose made me smile, but also cry happy tears, especially on Mother’s Day. My sons are adults now living their lives, one within 10 miles of us and one far away in Alaska, serving with the USAF. They both connected with me today to wish me a Happy Mother’s Day, which is all I wanted. I had been wondering what had resulted from your offer to buy the home you have lived in, and love, with your husband and three little ones and I am so happy your offer has been accepted. Happy Mother’s Day to you and your family.
Thank you for this beautiful essay. I am also glad that people have stepped up to help you.
So glad to hear of the progress on your home. Enjoyed this lovely and hopeful post. Thank you.
