This morning I would like to say how grateful I am for Mary's straight shooting, no nonsense, review of current events. Thank you!

Trump acting with impunity like an HOA board: brilliant. Those of us who have dealt with an HOA board in California are well aware they don’t worry too much about laws written to constrain them, since they know there is no enforcement agency or mechanism to challenge them other than expensive homeowner lawsuits. Thanks for a jab that some might not fully appreciate.

I can't help but wonder how much ink has been used, (figuratively,) by political pundits informing their readers about how Trump's Big Beautiful Bill will hurt the very people who have supported him.

I also wonder to whom are these pundits trying to get this message. Certainly not the supporters of Trump who are going to be hurt by these cuts. I seriously doubt they read SubStack essays or posts. Even if they did they wouldn't believe them.

I suspect these pundits know this. They, or at least the ones I read, are seriously smart people. So, the question that begs to be asked is why?

I guess it's because they are working hard to counter the efforts of the Neo-fascists, (who call themselves Republicans,) who are presently dismantling our democracy. They need America to know about the damage that's happening. They work hard to report, inform and educate their readers, people who already agree with them and are also alarmed.

I applaud these efforts, so much so I give them money, (at least a lot of them.) My concern(s) is/are that while these brilliant essays will shore up the resistance to the fascists, they will not be enough to change our country's present narrative. They will not reach the people who most need to hear them. They will not sway the true believers who are supporting the destruction of our national values. They will not change the stories of the Americans who have lost faith in our country's political system.

How do we/ they manifest change in these these stories? I have some ideas. I suspect you do too. I will be posting my thoughts in these pundits "comments" section following their work. (At least as long as they will let me.) If you agree with my thoughts, then express your agreement. Doing so will encourage me to to post more. If one of these pundits would like for me to expand on my thoughts, then please give me a way to get in contact and open a dialog.

As an independent voter, I have never really felt positive about Gavin Newsome, but I sure am warming up to him now!

It's become very clear that the Cabinet of the US is nothing more than a society of sociopaths and should be held up for impeachment charges as a group. Maybe Melanie Stansbury could draw up the impeachment papers. Wouldn't that be fun?

Thank you, thank you. Articulating with humor is best way to digest crap news these days.

"Then came Governor Gavin Newsom, who showed up online with a flamethrower and a thesaurus full of insults, turning the MAGA outrage machine into a pile of twitching circuit boards. He called Steven Miller a fascist cuck, posted a Voldemort meme, and mocked JD Vance for vacationing in California while attacking the immigrants who make Disneyland function. “Enjoy their labor,” he wrote, like a man with zero patience left for Republican cosplay."
