When Keir Starmer offered a new era of transatlantic partnership, Trump countered with TikTok Jack, AutoPen conspiracies, and a lecture on his magnificent ballroom.
He and too many others are still on my long list. I read dozens of quality writers and journalists every 1-3 days. It's too much. P.Krugman, Kara S, Joyce V .. Nicolle Wallace, Rachel M ... and more.
Thanks again for your concise summary Mary.Between Trumps weird ramblings and Melania’s odour avoiding hat shape, -just another day at the Ding-a-Ling Brothers Travelling Circus!
I wouldn't say that Starmer is as unpopular in the UK as Trump is in the US; it's more like a race to the bottom for those two. Trump clearly has the edge in that race. I just got back from visiting a dear friend in Scotland for a month. Starmer and Trump are both hated in Scotland. Things there are pretty bad, just in different ways.
I'm afraid what is happening here will be irreversible in my lifetime. I've been watching it happen ever since the SCOTUS decided that Bush won the 2000 election. It's been downhill all the way from there.
The news these days reflects the total insanity of Trump and his MAG(A)nets. I'm in a quandary - how often should I partake in order to remain sane AND reasonably informed. Thanks to everyone for your news suggestions. I partake of MG, HCR, Robert Hubbell, the Guardian, and of course the Borowitz Report. In the meantime I play music, touch base with friends, and watch birds.
To save remaining sanity, I've pulled back from daily news. I'll rely on Mary G. and a few others.
Mary, HCR, JoJo, and Jeff Tiedrich are my morning news.
I'm still in narrowing process. I've eliminated podcasts since reading is much more efficient and I can scroll and skim.
You might also try The Warning with Steve Schmidt.

Same.
Yes, I also read Steve Schmidt. I also read Dean Obidalah, TFN, Sam and Adam, anyone who’s newsletter has a lot of profanity in it.
Same here, relying on substack, Aaron Parnas and meidastouch
Eating the crayons: Lord, love a duck!! 🤣
Always loved that expression even not knowing how duck fits into things.
I know right. I’ll forever have that mental picture of little Donnie eating the crayons now.

My poor kids and grandkids. I weep for them.
