Wonderful post. Kathleen Walters' courage is indeed inspirational. Thanks for writing about her and giving us a little hope.

“A refusal becomes an example. An example becomes a reason to try.” Shanley, this essay choked me up. Beautifully written and yes, tender. Kathleen Walter is a hero and a role model. Firing her was a nasty, cruel, cowardly, and unnecessary act. The tyrant is a phony. Thank you for your beautiful essay.

I just finished Blockers… I love your response!! You have put into words the emotions I was left with after reading this latest Lewis book!! He left me feeling hopeful and incredulous and so reassured that there are real folks out there sincerely invested in doing great work for Americans…they will still be out there when the Trump regime is gone…

That was your best post yet! I felt it plumping me up and, yes, it gave me hope.

Thank you for this moving story! I needed it today because yesterday the mostly progressive Provincial government in BC lost a foolish & unnecessary election to the maple MAGAts here, in Canada. This will result in funding cuts for health care, education, housing, civil rights. They have promised to promote rascism toward First Nations and immigrants. Probably not as bad as in the US but the underlying disease is creeping north.
