The cruel irony is that Donald Trump is probably planning to use the Maduro playbook for the upcoming elections in the US.

You painfully capture the grim possibility of "the premise that voters are optional". Andrew Weinstein and Marc Elias are sounding alarms about election interference. The disgust and nauseating outrage at the actions and escalations of this Trump junta leaves us frustrated and apoplectic, waiting anxiously for some signs and acts of containment. The fate our republic is now in the hands of the 119th Congress. Will they hear us?!

How can we make them listen? How about setting up loudspeakers outside the Capitol to read out loud our Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights, and all the Amendments?

Below is a clip by Marc Elias that I wish people and media would start barnstorming. We hear about election interference, voter suppression, etc. But until now (to my knowledge), nobody has laid out the consequences of DOJ confiscation of voters' personal information and lawsuits against "blue" states as Marc does in this YouTube video. Please share it widely. Thank you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YznAxP02zhM

Your steaming coffee with the backdrop of those few outnumbered DC law enforcement officers brought back those awful churning stomach moments five years ago.

Interestingly, I have those exact same feelings now...

I gotta agree with Malcolm Nance about the ease with which our military could get into a presidential home, extract a leader from his bed, get him out of the building and onto a transport to the U.S. Where were his guards? Where were his bodyguards? Where was the alarm? How did they do that without resistance? Madura does not seem like someone who would play with his own safety. I have to believe there was more to this than we are hearing.

As for Jan 6, what a disgrace it is to our country that we observe this day as a win for Twump. The brains of Magats have calcified, I am sure of that, but for the rest of us, how do we just sit here day after day and allow this to happen? Where is the revolution? You can not oppress a free people without resistance. Have we grown so dependent on tech to do our thinking for us? Have we grown so fat and complacent because we believe America is so f***ng special? We are a mess, is what we are. And I blame tech. Put them all on Little Jeff with no cellphones or computers and let them rot.

January 6, 2021, was a violent, attempted coup that Trump orchestrated and incited. It was an overt act of treason.

That 77 million Americans still voted for him in 2024, and 89 million American voters couldn’t be bothered to cast a ballot, says something deeply troubling about our people that can’t be wished away. What is it?

And now most Americans are passively watching a level of government lies, lawlessness, cruelty, recklessness, corruption and incompetence that makes severe long term consequences for us inevitable. Do millions of Americans really believe they’ll somehow benefit or escape reality?

We have a lot of work ahead to reverse this nightmare!

I know by Mary’s insights here that what is unfolding with our illegal invasion of Venezuela will start hitting home here in horror. Trump is apparently okay with taking away health care from us while turning around to demand from taxpayers funds for a colossal unknown upgrade of oil fields in Venezuela. The misery in the US and in Venezuela will be unfathomable. One must realize that our military will be in crossfires. Every single eligible citizen with a soul will need to vote in November. We will need an army of brave hearted citizens to man the polls and an armada of charter buses to guarantee voter turnout.

I have been hearing how this whole maneuver has been staged and mostly theatrics...obviously there is so much more to this story...the concoction of the invasion of Venezuela was begun back in Trump's first term in office. And all the other nations that have been listed door prizes are part of the playbook to be sure. There are very enlightening podcasts by Wajahat Ali with Miles (forget last name) and Lev Parsons where the makings of these imperialist wet dreams are exposed...recommended viewing! And bang the drum loudly for the RELEASE OF THE EPSTEIN FILES....NOW!!! It is djt's kryptonite!

To my fellow Mary Geddry fans, and to the great lady, too - I'd like to introduce you to Robert L. Arnold. I discovered him a couple of months ago on my Facebook feed, and he is one of my daily "go to's", as is Mary. I think Mary's fangroup will appreciate him too. He's had some trouble with his shorts being cut off on Facebook. He can also be found on Substack, where I discovered, he also provides a transcript of his daily post, which is particularly helpful to me because I'm old and my brain doesn't work as fast as it once did. I hope you'll check him out, and if you like him, help spread his words. https://substack.com/home/post/p-183038894

Saw the White House website lies, fabrications of delusions… felt nauseated and angry. Can’t rewrite what we all experienced. The goal will always be to tell the truth for future generations. So Jack Smith’s testimony in writing and video will be held as the truth.

Along with prosecutor Smith will be Mrs Hemphill who perhaps is the only convicted insurrectionists who didn’t accept a pardon or clemency the first day the Felon took office. She deserves so much merit on standing by her truth, she was guilty, did her time and knows he lied. She took responsibility for her actions, that others who pretend their tough guys are so wimpy in comparison to Mrs Hemphill.

Yes, she refused that pardon, and deserves to have acknowledgement that learning is always an ongoing aspect of life.

As for that Felon, he will always be known as a cretin, the worst ever to hold an esteemed office. He chose his own fate and lies that will stick to him through history an insurrectionist…

I am suspicious of Maria Machado basically because she is such a Trump admirer, she even offered to "share" her Noble Prize with him to entice him to back her in place of Delcy. How do you actually share a Nobel Prize if not designated that way by the Nobel committee anyway?? I also don't like that so many Venezuelans applaud Trump's move, without realizing that he is violating our Constitution and International Law to do so. I guess they don't care. This is already a big mess and I think it's only going to get worse.

I agree about Machado. First Trump helps her leave, she dedicates her Nobel to him, and after he clearly throws her under the bus she shows up on Fox news of all places praising him. Go figure…

I am an 87 year old woman. I’ve lived through the tail end of the Great Depression, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Iran, Iraq, the Gulf War and I’m tired of the bull—it coming out of Washington by both parties. I’ve voted Democratic for the past twenty years in hopes that something better would happen and this time nothing but talk. If Trump can act illegally, then I think it’s time to step up to the plate and do the same thing!

And still Republican cowards in Congress sit on their hands while the mobster president plays in his sandbox. While blame is rightfully placed at the stinky feet of this president, I believe the failure of Congress to hold him accountable deserves and requires them to be linked completely to the destruction he is causing. This would have all ended with the impeachment vote in his first term in office if the current enablers had shown some backbone and courage to convict him and send him packing, never to return. And yet, the story continues day after day after day (for the last 10 years!!) with nary a peep from these chickens.

Even the best of historians acknowledge ‘the mess’ as Katy’s accurate wordage cites. So much of it years later discovered/uncovered..also breaking ‘what we stand for’. From Kinzer’s “Overthrow” to Zinn’s books by the thousands shelved and dusty -or the aim to debunk-never quite point out greed exceeds by far the end cost and most ‘crime’ isn’t the from petty thief. The lust for power/control and the innocent carnage has been forever…man has not learned but rather perfects the acts and protects the cons.

The ‘battle’ for peace bargains one-at-a-time pleas/compromise/deals that effectually buy pardons and stays principle …until the next ‘war’.

It’s been documented over and over … mostly ‘the winner’ gets what the loser had.
