Here’s the larger problem: Most of the states have not given ANY voter data to the federal government to feed into the database. Back in January, the state of Oregon won the first of a series of lawsuits saying they did not have to violate their own state law to do so. Other states followed. The Postal Service will have nothing to match for those states. So NO ballots would go through at all if this system became operational. In Oregon, among other states, virtually EVERY voter votes by mail. Can we picture an election in which whole states are disenfranchised?
Millions of people have been removed from the voter rolls.
Thousands of polling places have been closed.
Our fascist overlords are planning to deploy ICE and other agents of oppression to the polling places to intimidate voters. You can bet your bottom dollar they will show up untrained, masked, and carrying automatic weapons.

Thank you for detailing what's known about the USPS verification system. But regardless of how good or bad the execution of this plan is we must not forget the blatant unconstitutionality of the underlying concept and executive order. The constitution vests the function of election administration exclusively with the states. This is another of Trump's follies. Blatantly illegal from inception. The Supreme Court decision on ripeness set the stage for pure chaos. By continuing to ignore the renewed district court injunction, the administration has shown beyond doubt that chaos is exactly what they are striving for.
Trump and his cosplay team usually say what they plan to do by blaming someone else first. It seems entirely possible to insert enough errors into this system one way or another that all or nearly all mail ballots are never delivered. What is more, if a saboteur can be identified, that can be the Reichstag Fire moment and the election will be cancelled or declared void under emergency powers, enforced by trump's private army, with the downgraded US military unable to respond. If this is anywhere near the scenario, expect accelerated degradation of the army and continued mockery of the uniform to enable targetting and sidelining in crisis. May I be wrong. "USPS already handles bulk mail and barcodes for large commercial customers." Using alleged competence in handling junk mail to defend this blatant sabotage is actually quite fitting.
I don’t see how the republican led house, senate and president all winning the current power structure in the last election translates into “the system cannot be trusted” by those same power brokers…

The whole situation is totally nonsensical. The real plan seems to be to sow enough confusion that any results that do not go Trump's way are easier to challenge. Allegations of rigging seem less likely, as the mail ballot system does not sound as if it is mature enough to effectively disenfranchise a specific group of voters, at least not in time for the midterms. 2028 could prove to be another matter if this whole scheme is not stopped by the courts.
