"...the larger pattern is now clear: the White House is still testing whether intimidation can substitute for proof, and the courts are one of the few places where that bluff can still be called." These guys are taking Epstein Island rape culture to new levels, no longer satisfied taking vulnerable littler girls they're targeting vulnerable littler nation-states. No respect for consent or autonomy.

Thank you for the focused summaries. I admire the writing by Shanley and Mary but I often cannot plow through thousands of dense words, no matter how clever. A 500-word daily summary will keep me on track and encourage me to find time to read your more detailed work (but not every day!).

I keep looking ahead to some key points as all this develops or unravels. the mid-terms, the gradual suppression of the free press, the less and less hidden obedience to Netanyahu and AIPAC, the explosion of concentration camps, the seeming willingness to divvy up the world between the US and Russia, the repercussions from the Iran war and the 2028 elections. The vast majority of democrats (save imposters like Fetterman here in PA.. i will work hard for whomever wants to primary him) are opposed to most of this, but a large segment seem willing to sign on to blind support of Israel as they practice 21st century genocide in Gaza and apparently now Iran. More and more independents and even a sizable chunk of republicans have seen enough. the question is will it matter? will there be fair elections in the future and what will be left of the economy and the reputation of the US when and if sanity returns to US politics? I am hoping that during the first week of any democratic president elected in 2028 would be a rash of changes... stopping the ball room or tearing it down. renaming the gulf of Mexico, renaming the department of defense, etc. then shoring up the guard rails that failed over the past four years... i would also hope that they would go after trump, his cabinet, his family for all the crimes committed during his watch

Point well made James “no respect”…his winning the presidency was never meant for anything but self indulgence -dressed up in cloaks of promise.
