Always enjoy your columns, but as a Canadian living in the piece of our country that pushes deep into yours I have a special interest in what is happening on either side and below where I live. Have you considered a weekly column that bundles the various protests underway in the United States against what the Trump administration is doing? That’s assuming there is some serious push back pushback. (I certainly hope there is).
What a mess! Somehow each day you're able to find the unimaginable incidents that currently are playing out in our world. The ability or absence of any politician or constitutional words to
stop the madness is nonexistent . What to do? Keep reading, writing , attending rallies , and believing that it's all going to make a difference. As I gaze out upon my street this sunny morning, everything appears normal, but I know there is no real definition of that word and, in truth, the absurd has now become normal. Thanks, Mary, you're the light in the darkness in more ways than one. Give Marz a treat for getting you outside and finding inspiration in the day and night sky.
We just spent two weeks in puerto Vallarta and met many tourists from Canada who were happy to explain why they weren’t vacationing in Trump’s America.
I’m not sure you could make this up, it is truly stranger than fiction. Why any person would want to travel to the U.S. right now is beyond me. It would be great if people would boycott the World Cup, but it won’t happen…and Trump will find ways to try to steal spotlight and ruin the world’s greatest sporting event. He’d be laughable if not so damn dangerous and damaging.

Well how magnanimous sociopathic-narcissistic of him to proclaim that out loud…. Whatever his thoughts are of that continuation use of the word “mandates” seems has branched out to the entire world’s population… not only does it include Ukraine, but Venezuela as well as Nigeria. He always has his eye on Greenland and Canada as well. What country is next on his bingo card, one can only gather… It’s difficult to get into those open caverns being created in that noggin of his with so much cognitive decline going on…
On another note, a number of friends and I are looking to plan our own festivities of this countries 250th celebration in July in Canada. We would prefer to miss the 4-day event of the Patriot Games and definitely the UFC fight next to the ghost of the East Wing…We will see what comes down the pike when the calendar changes into 2026 horrors may befall on the needed additional paperwork other than passports to return to all our homelands soil. We’re looking in on a deal for burner phones to stay in touch with each other and leave our personal communications devices at home….
Whoever thought we would be living a story line from a dystopian-draconian fictional novel…
TJ, this is dystopian nightmare has been enjoyable to read by great twentieth century authors but has been a huge gobsmack in the face in 2025. How quickly people bowed to him, how quickly institutions bent a quivering knee, how supersonic speedy were the tech bros and billionaires to pawn a diamond and buy him gold, how disgustingly rapid the Republican party swallowed itself and threw itself up. You know what? I think we got a rude awakening but we will prevail. We will take back our country. And now, once awake, can we shake it off, fix it and carry on even stronger?
I believe that you and other influential voices should begin sounding the alarm by writing in all caps that the emperor is naked and dialing the nuclear codes. WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR? His Christmas missive of hate is enough. Basta. Enough. He must go, whatever way is most legal and humane, get him the f out of the White House before it is too late.
