It is sad indeed. We didn’t celebrate July 4th this year. Same reason, hard to celebrate when the very notion of who we are as Americans is uncertain. So, fittingly, Labor Day is, well, just another day on the road to perdition in America. I believe there will be a reckoning for Ms Bondi and others who disgraced their office, who forsake their oath. Certainly the moral arc bends to justice. But not without some assistance. Keep the Geddry newsletter coming, it keeps us informed. Hopefully engaged.

You’ll find me today at the No Kings protest in Medford. Sure to be an exercise of solidarity. It will feel good even if ineffective. Misery loves company. Do something you love today. Even if it’s just eating pancakes.

Just got back from a local protest...small town stuff. There were over 200 people there. It was invigorating! My favorite sign was "Healthcare, not Wealthcare".

It’s a sad state of affairs -not the kind Trump preferred I’d gander. That still far too many insist he’s the savior sent (as they cling losing their grift daily on the cliff they’re fallen off of) my mind still can’t believe the strayed were so duped.

Labor Day 2025 , filled with things I never thought possible even under the worst past administrations. There is no sanity left in those members who surely have undergone lobotomies ; otherwise, how could they in their wildest dreams continue to carry out the demented orders of this madman fascist? The beaches in San Diego and Coronado have suffered from this unchecked, complicated mess of floating sewage for years and sadly not just under the current administration. While we're in this mode of "need to reconstruct" let us at last with little or no help from the DNC or the Republican Party , truly strive to listen to all the voices regardless of party or age and work to resurrect our country . It's our job to do it and we, the people, must own it. Happy Labor Day to all of us! Let's get to work!

Maybe ,since he enjoys immersing himself and his grandchildren in stagnant water,RFK could be invited to swim in some of the crap he’s creating.

Even if it's doom-and-gloom, I need reality. Keep it comin', Mary. I appreciate what you do. That's why I nicked it. 😉

Mary, your reporting is excellent but sometimes I feel like I’m stuck on a news treadmill set to doom-scroll. Even a fake headline or two would be nice—just to break up the steady beat of catastrophe. At this point, I’d celebrate a press release that simply says:

Breaking News: Nothing got worse today.

History shows authoritarians fear mockery more than facts-based opposition—because once people are laughing at you, they’re no longer afraid of you. To that point, here's one example:

Bondi’s corruption and war on the rule of law are bad enough, but the collapse of public health defenses against known and emerging hazards is alarming.

Governors in blue states - and any sane governors in red states - need to step in fast to establish or buttress state and regional CDCs - hiring the experts RFK Jr. is discarding.

The president of Portugal is correct: Trump is an asset of Putin, whose goal from KGB days has been to destroy America from within. We’re painfully living through that destruction. How Trump billionaires, tech fascists and cult followers think they’ll thrive in the disease-ridden rubble is beyond me.
