A handful of Republicans standing up to Trump would constitute a miracle.

"...this does not require some sweeping political miracle to stop. It would take only a handful of Republicans, in the House or the Senate, to say enough..."

Yes, Congress is the ONE and ONLY bulwark that can still reign in Trump & Friends off-the-chart insanity before it's too late:

“Protection racket” tactics are what corrupt real estate bullies and bottom feeder corporate raiders use, when the main consequence is who gets the building or majority stake. Trump was venal enough in that world.

Parlaying ruthless business shakedown tactics to the presidency eventually forces like responses - when the targets realize there’s no appeasing a bully, especially a megalomanic emboldened by cowards and liars.

Will there ever be enough pushback to thwart Trump’s reign of chaos and destruction? All we little folks can do is keep up the pressure in every peaceful way possible.

Mary, I can't wait to read your thoughts on Mark Carney's remarks at the World Economic Forum. It actually brought tears to my eyes to hear from a world leader about the direction Canada is taking in response to Trump-caused world events. I picture Trump sucking his thumb as he cowers in a corner as the world passes him by.

"Trump attacked NATO and suggested the alliance might not defend the United States in the future."

Trump judges all by his own pathetic standards. While the USA is in NATO Article 5 applies and all the other nations would come to the defence of the USA.

Lincoln’s “Better Angels of our nature” is destroyed by the fear-driven, “ME, MINE! Why ? Because I’m bigger than you. Ha!”
