Trump’s Iran war is colliding with higher prices, shaky allies, media intimidation, and the familiar American trick of turning public suffering into private profit.
Take some time off to deal with this flu/cold... We need you healthy and writing--and right now the way to do that is grant yourself some well-deserved rest. Nobody is going anywhere because you take some time off to recuperate...
You, along with Aaron Parnas, are the two that I definitely read, while others are those that I read some or most of the time. All of this to say, I am so enlightened, moved and otherwise better for having read your posts. I have a quibble with this last —- and I’m not claiming knowledge or legitimacy but rather pained puzzlement. I know that politicians once they’re in power like to keep power, no question, Republicans or Democrats. My concern or puzzlement is in this time, when Republicans are clearly herding the U.S. towards out and out authoritarianism, it doesn’t seem to me like a good idea to echo those who are apolitical, that Republican or Democrat, there is no difference between the two parties?
There is a huge difference between authoritarian repubs and corporate democrats. Some of us in blue states want stronger pushback from our reps. We vote for them yet still ask for improvement. My senators too often cave to wealthy interests, but we do have Joe Neguse in the House, speaking truth to power😊
Please do what you can to care for yourself. If that means spending days away from your keyboard and the never-ending news cycle, then so be it. We need voices like yours, now more than ever, but your health needs to come first. Everything else is secondary. We’ll still be here when you’re finally on the mend and strong enough to deal with the sh*tshow from hell! Blessings to you.❤️
Hope you feel better soon. It sucks to be sick. It’s even worse to think you’re getting better and then have it hit you again. Rest, rest and more rest. Be well!
"When a supermajority cannot deliver clean campaign finance limits after voters approve them by 78 percent, the problem is not partisan obstruction. The problem is that the system, regardless of branding, is built to protect the people who already know how to work it." #Preach 🙌
Hang in there Gramma. Your family and your friends/readers all need you. Look forward every day to your clear, straightforward description of the chaos (often followed a day or two later by recognition of the same facts/events in NYT or the Guardian).
Trying to keep abreast of the daily current horrors, but honestly it is overwhelming. We do our small part hoping the tide will change, but the hope part is crushed by the hopelessness part at an increasing rate.
What to do when so many voters think everything is just fine?
Hope you are staying hydrated. I am so sorry this illness is not letting go. That has got to be so frustrating! Take the rest you need and come back feeling feisty!!

Feeling wretched and still figuring out how the Borg collective fits into your writing says something wonderful about your thinking.

Thank you as always for your perceptive remarks in this crazy time. Feel better soon. Happy Birthday to the little one.

Somehow keep the faith I guess. Sigh.
Mary, as always, I appreciate your articles and your writing style. I was particularly struck by the article about stifled reform in Oregon. I've been having a series of discussions with a bright, eloquent 20 year-old (my granddaughter) who is deeply cynical about our system of government. I summarized her views this morning here: https://andrewcampbell931191.substack.com/p/deck-chairs-on-the-titanic?utm_campaign=post-expanded-share&utm_medium=web
...and I join your other readers in wishing you a quick recovery.
Thank you!!

Whatever you do, don't breathe on or near the two year old, send the dog with a gift wrapped bundle
he would be more welcome than a sneezing, coughing, exhausted Granny.
Thanks for whatever you can send us. It is appreciated.
You need to rest more and get better. Let Shanley keep us updated until you
Have recovered. She’s awesome too! I believe in sleep to heal.
Thank you for helping me make sense of all this nonsense. I love your writing.
