"He has renamed Lake Ontario “Lake America” by decree, and this week used Governor Kathy Hochul’s refusal ..."

Yet another distraction from the shitshow. Lake Ontario is an international body of water shared with Canada. Canada has explicitly rejected the change, and Trump cannot compel the Canadian government, New York State, private mapmakers, publishers, or the international community to use Trump's fake name.

MapQuest posted on X: “WE'RE NOT CHANGING IT.”

...and then publicly mocked the change by launching a joke name-generator letting users call the lake whatever the fuck they wanted

First and foremost.. very sorry for your loss, and know that he is still with us, just not in a form we are used to seeing. he is there. safe travels and recover.

several items worth noting... the amount of oil reserves Venezuela has is subject to considerable debate. for years, it was a relatively low number then jumped up by an order of magnitude under Caesar Chavez to attract foreign investment, then jumped up even more under the guy that trump just kidnapped... second item, Venezuelan oil is the worst of the worst, very difficult to pull up, very difficult to refine, corrosive, etc. "Mr Global" on his Youtube channel did a great number on this. the entity that the US did the deal with is another one of trumps buddies, who donated scads of money to trump. the whole thing requires buy-in by oil companies who thus far have shown no interest in going into Venezuela due to the questions about how much oil is there, who really owns it, the quality, the risk to equipment and personnel (government seized all the assets years ago and they dont want to have a repeat of that, and of course any disgruntled Venezuelans, of which there are many, may decide to shoot at or bomb Exxon Mobil employees...). it is apparently against US law and Venezuelan law.. but other than that, a great idea! very likely to collapse before getting off the ground....

the renaming of everything after America and himself just is so petty, childish, and gross... it means nothing to anyone in the US, and makes us look like a bunch of 2nd graders to the rest of the world.

The reality is... most Americans are on the side of Canada. Most Americans never had an issue with Canada and (hopefully) most Americans understand that there were no unfair trade rules that were actually ever triggered. the high penalty for exceeding certain dairy quotas were hardly ever triggered if at all... Canada consumes significant shares of the products from five or six bordering states, so this petty grievance and distraction that trmp is creating comes (like the Argentinian beef deal) at the expense of average Americans...

i have seen so many "pity me" Op Ed pieces, articles, and posts from American cattlemen and ranchers, and i do feel for them. i also cannot help but ask why did they vote for their own destruction and please do not tell me that you did not know what was going to happen... the rest of us did, and he did it to you during his first term, most notably with the soy farmers. i will be doing all I can to buy local beef from small farms, raised in the US. i hope everyone does. i also would love to see some people in America's farm belt come clean about voting for these guys and start to see some efforts to vote out the congressmen and senators, all republican, that have left them high and dry, and stood by while trmp bankrupts them and turns their family farms over to the mega companies.

Americans need to understand that so much of our food supply (that which we eat directly and that which goes to feed livestock which we then eat) is owned by two, three, or four mega corporations, some of whom are not even American companies... so lets stop with the Make America great again horseshit as it should be bright, clear, and highly visible to all that all these republican policies are there to make trmp and his buddies rich, and once and for all eliminate the self determination of the United States...

“an illegitimate interim government with an illegitimate hydrocarbons law has no legitimacy to strike this unconstitutional deal.” This is the reason we don't yet have a name for any US oil company willing to implement this deal. They got burned in Venezuela before.

Similar to the Dept of RWARR! or renaming hydronyms, the iDJT's decrees have no legal authority. He is not a king.

"Secretary of War?" Why are you buying into this mockery of a "renaming" by the Felon In Chief? You are normalizing a deranged action. I'm surprised at this. This is one reason I had to unsubscribe. So disappointed.

AV,Don’t get distracted by the real villains, Trump and his corrupt administration. Whether the author refers to it at the Department of war or DOD, we shouldn’t be fighting within ourselves. We should be giving money or support to Democrats so when we take over we can rid ourselves of anything Trump.

You are assuming I don't give money to, or support Dems? WRONG. And calling out capitulation is not "fighting within ourselves." No one should be calling DoD the "Department of War."
