36 years ago, Vanity Fair journalist Marie Brenner wrote a fascinating profile of Donald and Ivana Trump after their divorce (September 1990 issue, After the Gold Rush, available online in the archives section of the website). She concluded her 1990 article with the following reflection:

"I thought about the ten years since I had first met Donald Trump. It is fashionable now to say that he was a symbol of the crassness of the 1980s, but Trump became more than a vulgarian...Trump appeared to believe that his money gave him a freedom to set the rules. No one stopped him. His exaggerations and baloney were reported, and people laughed. His bankers showered him with money. City officials almost allowed him to set public policy.….. New York City, like the bankers from the Chase and Manny Hanny, allowed Trump to exist in a universe where all reality had vanished."

Here we are again, with far greater stakes if Trump is allowed to impose his universe where all reality has vanished. Mary and Shanley are on the front lines to ensure reality remains front and center - we are fortunate to be on their team!

The people designing these scripts for him (I cannot believe that trump is capable of doing it himself) are geniuses. The content and timing needed for such manipulation of opinion is not simple. The knowledge and understanding of human thought and comprehension must be deep. The techniques of employing that knowledge to manipulate it are far more complex than I could ever understand.

Thanks for presenting this to us. It is amazing.

This is the same old BS you hear from US adversaries, particularly Russia. The difference is the Russian talking points are coming from the White House. Pretty much any state official responsible for running elections, Republican or Democrat, will tell you how secure the elections are (sometimes in boring detail). They know, because they are doing the work. 2020 was, as far as I could tell, the most recounted, audited, and litigated election ever (2000 was all about FL, this one was about several states), and nothing was found. The only blatant election interference I can recall from 2020 was "C'mon fellas, I just need you to find me 11,780 votes." And January 6th. C'mon, media, I just need you to replay that recording, and maybe the summary report from the Jan 6 committee, because remember: Jan 6 was not a singular event, it was the final stage in an attempted coup. Jack Smith had a case ready to go .... and he says he still does.

If the system is so broken, how did he get elected in 2024?

Because he cheated & lied - HE rigged that election - & some people are too ignorant to see that reality. He told those people what they wanted to hear. And now he's screwing them & some (many?), are seeing & feeling the truth. That's my guess.

It was manipulated by Elon Musk. He even stated that.

Hmmm. Drumpf claims the 2020 election was rigged. He hasn't claimed that the 2024 election was rigged (my guess is that it was, as was the 2016). He's already claiming the midterms are rigged as he will the election of 2028. What he really is saying is that HE will rig the elections. Because HE is a cheat & a liar & a rapist & a pedophile & a greedy son of a bitch. Why on this great Earth would we believe ANYTHING he says?

Mary, this is a brilliant summation of what Trump is trying to do-- from different platforms, observers. When does the cavalry appear to rescue us?

The Calvary is being tested for low Testosterone. They aren’t coming to rescue us. So it’s up to us.
