Your shared vulnerability brings tears to my eyes. Your eloquence, magnificent. If I could I’d give you some small amount. I just can’t. And I’m so sorry. But…I carry you and your family in my heart everywhere I go, at all times. Sending you continued tenacity, Light, hope, wishes for financial generosity that your dream may become true. And prayers for all of you, and little Ezra as well…THANK YOU for your labors of love…I, we all are, am indebted to you…
David, thank you for your kind words. They alone mean a great deal to me and bring just as much love into our heart, and that love is what gives us the ability to continue to fight.
Do you have a gofundme? Please let me know. I have just become a paid subscriber so I may have missed that. I understand deeply about why you want to save your home and the land around it.
After listening to Heather Cox Richardson’s update for April30 and feeling helpless , I am grateful to participate in your families “ go fund me”. Thank you for letting all of us spread a little sunshine.
I hope you are successful in purchasing your home. And I hope little Ezra gets the care he needs. Nothing is harder than worrying about a sick child. ❤️
Shanley, you've given us, your readers and now your family's allies, a sense of community. I'll read your and Mary's newsletter and feel more informed and often I share the information sussed out by your careful attention and research. But rallying around Ezra's medical care and your family has given me a sense of belonging to a community of informed, like minded folks who when we put our mind to it, can change the trajectory of fear and hopelessness to purpose and hope. As I open the aperture of the lens of this phenomenon that you created by bravely telling your story, I'm guardedly optimistic that together we can change the direction of our nation and save our democracy. "Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
Thank you for seeing not just the story, but the community that has formed around it. That has been one of the most unexpected and humbling parts of sharing what our family is going through: realizing that people are not only reading, but gathering, caring, acting, and reminding one another that despair is not the only honest response to frightening times.
Ezra’s care has made everything feel very immediate and personal, but the response from this community has also shown us something bigger: that informed, compassionate people can still find each other, still organize around love, and still turn fear into purpose.
We’re so grateful you’re here with us; as a reader, as an ally, and as part of this wider circle of people trying to keep hope active.
