Do you ever imagine who's reading your work--or have you moved into a place where expressing your thoughts and feelings in best possible way IS a primary goal--and, always, so much the better if it strikes a sympathetic chord in the reader? Anyway, thanks for writing something so articulate and heartfelt; it makes me feel less lonely in the current wasteland of spectacular self-concern and moral blindness. Thanks again...

Public money funds basic research, food inspections and weather satellites; it pays soldiers, maintains cemeteries and regulates the airspace above us. When hurricanes strike, Coast Guard crews head into the storm to rescue people who will never receive an invoice large enough to cover the cost...'
An incidental point but all good examples of the benefits of socialist or socialised organisations and institutions, so loathed and derided by the right.
This rings exactly like Alaska Governor Dunleavy promising a $3,900 dividend to citizens of the state of Alaska when he was running for election. Vote for me and I'll give you money. Those funds would have come from revenues generated by oil production on state of Alaska lands on the North Slope. And while Alaskans do get a dividend each year, it is way less than Dunleavy promised. But the Dunleavy promised dividend, similarly as with this promise from the Cheeto, must pass the legislative branch and that didn't happen. As it clearly won't happen nationally.
