Up is down and down is up, but still we trudge along hoping someone, somewhere, is going to save us from the unending misery. Whether it's a molar, an insurrection, the tearing down of the West Wing, or words thrown together like darts by the man so hated and feared by the world, we are and have been on a bumpy ride. The National Park Service was not consulted before destruction of our national treasure, the White House, which is under their jurisdiction. In fact, it appears no one of consequence was consulted. How does this happen? If this is a normal time in which we are living, then I say, tear it all down. The four walls that house our elected, non-functioning legislators and a worthless SCOTUS have done nothing to assure the people they represent, you and me, of their intent to stop the madness currently on daily exhibit in the People's House. Let them all eat cake, but for our sake, someone in the room be the adult and stop this cruel, evil man.

Not for nothing, Vi, but the WH burned down in 1814, and it can burn down again. It is only a symbol as good as its occupants. Right now, that house means nothing to me.

Yes, Trump is razing the East Wing, something he promised not to touch. So while Americans argue over healthcare and grocery bills, their president is busy constructing his own Versailles — a 90,000-square-foot temple to his ego, funded by billionaires, and just another way for Trump to grift.

How much money will be laundered through the Trump organized criminal enterprise? Think about that: laundering money in construction on the WH by the president. If that was a novel, would you roll your eyes?

"He [Zelenskyy] legally cannot sign away the Donbas without violating the document he swore to uphold. To do so would dissolve the very sovereignty Trump claims to be negotiating over."

Yes, but why would Trump care, since he has been violating the Constitution ever since he got into office? Stay safe, Mary Geddry!

That's a long time to wait when it's too painful to chew. Recent experience allows me to relate.

Let us apply Occam's razor to the question of Trump and Putin. Simply, there are two things that terrify Trump: Putin and Epstein. What could they have in common? Well let's start with the basic thing: Trump's penis. If Putin's photographs and the Epstein files contained photos of a massive member, or a decent-size johnson, Trump would want everything revealed. If Trump was a porn star instead of f***ing a porn star, (and with the size of his ego) he would have had those dickpics put on the interweb, MAGA merch, and an USPS stamp.

With all you wrote today, let me pull myself out of the gutter and try to pay attention. But, really, do you see the obvious connection and the only answer that makes all kinds of sense, and is the simplest and smallest?

I strongly encourage Portland to continue to peacefully protest. Trump and ICE are the terrorists doing their best to make Portland fight so they can confirm their accusations.

Our local No Kings Rally has inspired hope ☺️ I saw ~2 miles of happy people along hwy 34, the line curling around the lakeshore. I said so at the store later and the cashier said 'you mean at the protest?' No, it was a celebration! 😁 Thanks for the reminder to go out and sniff pine needles!

No delirium detected, Mary. You seem clear-headed and sharp, as usual. Maybe a touch of schizophrenia, the piece being serious and funny, dark and illuminating, awful and great. But that's the circus of today. While on the painkillers, it might be fun to take a little journey with a reading of my recent, fictionalized take on same circus macabre, plus resistance and my backyard plum tree. Thanks for the work you do. https://chriswaltz.substack.com/p/paring-knife-vs-sharpie?r=2obphr
