Is there anyone or anyway that DJT can face repercussions for his illegal destruction of the South American boats and sailors he claims—with no evidence—are drug transporters? Can the international community intervene? Why is DJT permitted to bail out another country? Was Congress consulted about that expenditure? It’s pretty obvious to me that all the money DOGE “saved” with its cuts early on was so he could use it for his pet projects—ICE abuses, rewarding equally crooked politicians, phony prosecutions of political enemies, ballrooms, patios, golf trips, etc. May he rot in hell……

Of course Trump didn't / doesn't deserve the Nobel Peace Prize but, no matter how much lobbying he did, nominations for the award closed on January 31st. Unless he was nominated before then and had done sterling work in the name of peace, (ha ha), he wasn't even on the list.

So no, he wasn't "snubbed" as some have suggested, he simply wasn't on the list.

Next year will be a different story however...

I believe that the Nobel committee would rather give a Peace Prize to Hitler posthumously then give one to Trump alive. They seem like smart people with eyes.

Also DJT is far from solving peace in the Middle East by successfully garnering a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, a great start but still just a portion of the peace plan to end the war. He hasn’t earned the Nobel prize nor does he deserve it considering his actions in the country that he is serving.

Hey. If a lasting peace with fairness to all is somehow achieved in Gaza/Palestine with this band of incompetent authoritarian dunces, more power to them. Even then I would argue that trump would have to do a lot more reforming and recanting and repairing before the world should give a nanosecond's consideration for the Nobel prize. The chances of any of this happening (peace or Scrooge like redemption/atonement) feels slim or non-existent, but hey...

Gary, Do you believe that the people of Palestine are safe? No matter what Trump does or says, Netanyahu seems hellbent on endless revenge and Hamas, responsible for October 7th, are still in charge of their own mess. Trump wants his seaside property with all those sand traps he can cheat his way out of and Netanyahu wants to stay in power. They both take an emotional toll on their own populations and keep them (us) so riled up we don't what is what. Mary's column here is a great example of that. Every fucking day there are more insults, atrocities and verbal conflagrations to keep us on edge and fighting with one another.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainians are bombed and bombed and bombed. WTactuallyF? NO F**KING peace prize for "incompetent authoritarian dunces!" Excusez-moi mon Francais.

Netanyahu has probably figured out that if this Peace Deal works, all Israeli eyes will start to turn towards him and his corruptions and awful mistakes. So my bet is that he will sabotage this whole thing to keep the war machine active with him leading the charge.

Absolutely. Just like trump realizes that if he stops his daily assaults on our democracy and constitution american eyes will turn firmly to Epstein and his victims.

I am under no impression that there will be any lasting peace. Even if there was-which would be an amazing accomplishment (even a blind pig...) - you can't award a nobel prize to someone who has declared war on 1/2 of their own population amongst his many many other crimes.

Wouldn't it be lovely if next year at this time the Nobel Peace prize goes to the American people for their bravery in overthrowing a tyrannical President and his whole administration? I won't hold my breath, but it's a nice dream today.

We've lost our way and I don't think we will travel the path we were on before Trump again. In many ways, the American people , 78%, of us are looking for a new path that is free of corporate , AIPAC, and lobbyist influence. If starting over means eliminating the aforementioned and concentrating on the needs of the people, then, let's get started. Trump is like a deathly virus that holds on to us while Robert Kennedy prescribes the cure and Howard Lutnick, Commerce secretary, makes sure to enforce tariffs on any country that aids in supplying the medicine needed. Such a bunch of fools who carry our fate if we allow it. My No Kings shirt arrived today and I plan to wear it each and every time I venture out for all to see. It's not just one day, but rather, every day when we must stand up to the bullies and proclaim them as such. Nobel Peace prize, indeed! Laughable and disgusting to even think of Trump in the same category for this honor. Thank you, Norway!

"We’re only going to cut Democrat programs. I hate to tell you, I guess that makes sense, but we’re only cutting Democrat programs,” he bragged"

Doesn't everyone know that statistically-- the MAJORITY of these cuts affect Red States and Republicans, including red-hatted-card-carrying MAGAs? Dems need to pound this.

You know, Mike Pence is looking like a dignified statesman as we get closer to a JD Vance presidency. I know that's not what you wrote about today but last night a fly landed on someone and I flashed back to Pence's fly. Made me smile. Oh lordy give me strength. I need it for the day they put Senator Schiff in handcuffs. Sorry for the distraction, your column gave me instant ADHD.

Now that financial markets are tanking in the wake of Trump’s threat to impose massive new tariffs on China, will the masters of money begin to stand up to the Trump cabal?

Every day the world’s sane humans ask: what will it take for those with power and influence to resist the economic and social crises certain to worsen if Trump-MAGA vengeance, delusions, distractions and incompetence continue to dominate U.S. government policy and actions?

Rational analysts at the respected Economist magazine certainly see what lies ahead for American stability and wellbeing if current Trump administration behaviors continue, and it’s ugly.
