Superb, powerful writing. The corrupt evil of this administration put on full view. Enough is enough. The time has come to say NO MORE. If congress won't do their jobs they should be expelled and replaced by people who will.

Again, you have taken us on a journey where the criminal mind reigns, hope and empathy are absent and the facts tragic. If I thought my congressman Clif Bentz would read more than a paragraph or two, I would send this to him. I think I will anyway, just to make me feel like it is one tiny thing I can do to stem the tide of this horrific administration. And Gary's quote, "Any civilized society is only nine meals away from anarchy" just hammers the point. It's going to take me some time to come down from the "feelings" this post of clear truth of what we face has evoked. And that's ok. The image Katy has offered is also brilliant. I grew up in the desert. They deserve a march to the ever farther horizon until the reality of their demise is reached. I won't be crying for them.

The longer this ‘goes on’ the longer the list of complicits ..and it’s staggeringly long already. Mary lists the known atrocities that made me go back-to-the-land in the 70’s.

And no, I don’t want to live in a cave. But along the way of improving our life, getting conveniences, safety, cures, comfort …comes complacent behaviors , turned heads, and let’s not talk-about-it excuses.

Where to draw the line ?

Now. Impeachments with indictments. PLURAL.

Trials. Clean up .

We have been handed the truths. It’s a freakin mess! Has been for years. This didn’t happen just 15 years ago down from an escalator. But America was ripe and got plucked…and the worst is yet to come ,facing it. There are countries doing much better, addressing every issue Mary mentions…the issues. We don’t have to reinvent the wheel. We do have to rid ourselves of the wheelers and dealers.

Our justice system is broken.

Our reputation is shot.

Trust in America has taken the toll.

A revamp of humungous nature is needed.

It won’t happen all at once. But it needs to happen.

Mary captured the essence of the Trump regime in this morning’s essay, also brilliant: “It is governance by demolition, privatization, grievance, and spectacle.”

The gaslighting, incoherence, hypocrisy and malice of those defending Hegseth’s murders at sea are the MAGA norm for everything now. Evidence and reason no longer exist in their bizarre wonderland.

A functioning Congress with even minimal regard for the Constitution and reality would impeach, try and convict Trump and his entire cabinet for gross abuses of power, crimes and misdemeanors.

This is an incredible piece of writing and thought. Thank you

Eloquently developed and written, Mary. You continue to show how Trump and his ragtag stooges play soldier while they deliver death in the guise of "protecting Americans". Trump has brutally tried to gather together all our elements of force to trap us whenever our Congress should finally decide it's time to remember we are America, the land of the free and the home of the brave. Next comes the hard part.

Yes this is a powerful piece. It also clarifies possible reasons for blowing small vessels out of the water. The vessels are seen to carry many passengers for their size. Why so many “drug runners taking up space in a drug run?” Then the viscous second bombing of two passengers treading water. The pirates of yore coined a phrase “dead men tell no tales” or in the words of today, “rubbing out any witnesses.”

Yes the corridor of cancer, on the Gulf Coast between Biloxi and Baton Rouge, in Speaker of the House Mike Johnson’s own district, has long been under an intense focus and investigation by the EPA, on behalf of citizens there, until the Trump Administration’s decimated the EPA and cancelled all further studies and lawsuits in this corridor.

You are amazing!! I hope that Trump supporters read this and wake up. If they do read it they will still find reasons to hate you. It’s hard to admit when you’re wrong and stupid.

I have a hard time not crying every single day. When I read what RFK is doing I was so angry. These hypocrites ban abortions then make decisions that can kill those babies from diseases that are preventable. It makes me sick. I wish we could put all these people together and end every one of them.

A brilliant piece. We are witnessing rampant rancid repulsive hypocrisy. We all know the boat strikes are murder. We all see the pardons of the real drug lords. But too few of us have given enough thought to what you have otherwise laid out here so well. The lives of hundreds of thousands are put at risk by the actions of the regime reference the environment, climate change, pollution, forever chemicals, water supply, etc., no to mention lunatic changes in public health initiatives, food insecurity, energy insecurity, lack of healthcare accessibility, spreading poverty, and more. I have said many times, it feels like a death cult. It feels as if every action they take is the antithesis to what is needed to support the welfare of this country. To what end? The enrichment of the very few. We better hope we can unseat these monsters through the democratic process because they are dragging us into an era of profound civil unrest. As someone said, "Any civilized society is only nine meals away from anarchy."

Meanwhile T rump pardons a major political drug trafficker who wanted to "shove cocaine up the noses of gringos"...and as usual he kills innocent fishermen to detract. So sad and disgusting.

The tapestry of death you’ve woven here is overwhelming….

‘Any government that claims to act in the name of its people must reckon with this truth: protecting life requires protecting the conditions that sustain it.’

Brilliant analysis and exposé.

We cannot go forward with Twump et al. We must clean out the criminal class that has taken over our government. As sure as thieves break into a house, they have gained entry and now, like the immature people they are, are trashing the place just for fun. We need to get them out, blindfold them. get them into black windowed vehicles and driven to the edge of the desert and tell them to keep walking until they hear us say stop. Then we get back into the vehicles and go find a nice little cafe and cozy up to a cup of tea.

If we destroyed all the fentanyl and cocaine, there would still be people using drugs. The reason fentanyl became popular is because of cost and availability. It is much easier to smuggle thousands of fentanyl pills than a bales of cocaine. If Venezuela didn't have oil, would they even care.

Like anything this foul administration does; follow the money. It’s always about the money, the oil, the crypto currency and it’s happening right under the watch of a corrupted Congress, Senate and Supreme Court. If we don’t figure a way out of this our democracy is doomed. I am very afraid for the next generation.
