Trump spent the day insisting everyone had been brought to heel, NATO, the Senate, Iran, Venezuela, even a reflecting pool. The record underneath told a different story.

It's quite possible that the pointless limo tour of the reflecting pool, before the glue was set, is what sabotaged the "incredible restoration". It's no longer the reflecting pool - it's the deflecting tool.

I certainly don't believe we are the "hottest" country on earth, but I know Americans are dying from this Administration's heat.
Take a day, you certainly deserve it. The crazy will still be here when you're back.

I continue to flash back to the September 1990 Vanity Fair deep-dive profile of Trump, in which journalist Marie Brenner quoted a Trump colleague:
“Donald is a believer in the big-lie theory. If you say something again and again, people will believe you."
Trump counts on the “big-lie theory” to control the narrative and attack doubters. It’s a despicable, dangerous and frequently successful tactic.
The challenge: communicating “big-truths” that defeat Trump’s “big lies” quickly and powerfully.
