Your immediate thought was: Who has more reason to lie to you than the president of the company? These tech CEO's, along with the backing of Mr. Corruption himself, reminds me of Sy and his Hair Club... It's always the same story-- Sellers of the true cross, Snake oil salesmen, Sy Sperling, Tech CEOS, Trump, et al... Whenever you see them, you have to make sure you still have your wallet--
It's also a solecism, a stupid blunder. In AI circles, "superintelligence" is colloquially used as a synonym for Artificial General Intelligence--i.e., with whatever they can come up with that mimics a human consciousness. Calling AI SI is like calling a caterpillar a butterfly.
Note Dean Blundell's substack this morning. Turns out that "SI" is the country code for Slovenia ... and a LOT of buying of domain names was done at increasingly high prices in July and August - including for names with deep Slovenian resonance like "1776.si".
You might wonder, if you were the suspicious type, if somone with Slovenian connections had advance notice of a move to the term "SI" and decided to have valuable domain-name property available - especially if you thought there was a possibility/probability/certainty that a ton of tech companies in the States would soon want to curry favor with the President by having names ending in .SI rather than the old-fashioned .AI when they apply for government contracts, grants, hand-outs, preferences, fancy dinners with visiting heads of state ...
