In the late 1950s, I was fortunate enough to have parents who made sure my siblings and I received the polio vaccine. A classmate was not and lived her fore-shortened young life in an iron lung. The entitled trash that place a generation or more of children at risk need to be prosecuted for crimes against humanity.
Everytime I turn on a tap I send gratitude to the universe for running hot and cold potable water. I do not take it for granted. I am so very, very, very sorry for the people who live without indoor running water ... and there are some in the USA and Canada and I'm so ashamed that our society and governments allow that to be. I'm delighted to hear that you now have your pipes sorted out. On to the next chapter of home ownership and juggling the budget. But it's worth it ... no doubt in my mind!!

As to the proposed vaccination changes - access to proven vaccines is not negotiable; they can prevent life-long medical problems and, more importantly, they save lives. I speak as someone whose childhood was spent in a time when only polio and diphtheria vaccines were available. MMR and the other vaccines now provided routinely would have prevented so much suffering.
