We spent yesterday tracing a broken water line. Washington spent it connecting Donald Trump’s former defense lawyer directly to the Justice Department.
Todd Blanche in fact is now the official consigliere, legal counsel to the mob boss, colluding and facilitating the Trump crime syndicate in its continued lawlessness and defiance of constitutional restraints.
Under the leadership of Judge Michael Luttig, an army of state and federal judges has been assembled to intervene with amicus briefs (https://societyfortheruleoflaw.org/amicus-brief-luttig-anti-weaponization/) and filed complaints to the NY Bar association challenging Blanche's fitness to retain his license.
Our legal system will now serve as the forward bulwark protecting our republic against the toxic destruction of Donald Trump.
The Donald Trump's surreal reality show; lawyers become heros, corruption and deceit become respected values, incompetence and ignorance become virtues, and sycophant obedience replaces loyalty to our country.
It is important to learn while young that actions have consequences. Trump obviously never learned that lesson or chose to forget it. He is clearly out of control and no one-even those leaving the senate-is willing to rein him in. Were they coerced by power or fear?
My hunch--fear. I think most of these GOP politicians have skeletons in the closet --a shady real estate deal, insider trading, a little too friendly with a female staffer, and the like. Even if they are criminally and ethically clean, Trump's power over the FBI and DoJ would allow him to attack or strong arm a senator's major donors. As an aside, I find it amazing that accomplished people such as Cornyn, Cassidy, Tillis have so little pride that they are willing to be run over by the Orange Buffoon when it would be so easy to give him the proverbial finger on an issue of such importance to him. Baffling!?
People are saying that they must have had their arms twisted...either with (to mix metaphors?) "carrots or sticks". They're Republicans, and possibly lookjng at six-figure incomes as Republican "Consultants" or whatever, next year. And then there's always "...pretty little wife you've got; be a shame if anything happened to her..."
And I hope you have finally fixed that irrational water line. You managed to make it almost humorous in the telling (and a great analogy!) but dang, how truly horrible. My heart goes out to all of you!
The horror of this charade is that my republican friends think Donald Trump is brilliant no matter what he does. Hatred has been cultivated within American culture for centuries and in human culture for eons. Jesus, Buddha, Yahweh, Allah, Mary and the lot of the highest spiritual practitioners better show up and remind everybody to cool the fuck down & surrender to the highest good. Even in my own blood family relatives blame each other for whatever feelings of inadequacy they have about themselves. Self-responsibility used to be a benchmark for adulthood. Now being an asshole is considered patriotic.
I am amazed that with everything going on at home at the moment, you can still be so tuned in to what is happening to the country. Very sobering, but entertaining and instructive, as always.
