Won't it be fun for you folks to share this story with Ezra when he grows up ... and share the video of him eating a dill pickle and laughing out loud with total mirth as he played all by himself on the bed. This has made a wonderful memory for me too!! And an orangatan story with a happy ending ... icing on the cake!
Fingers crossed!! I hope your offer is accepted! I’m so glad you’re able to find out what’s happening with Ezra. In a perfect world he would have gotten that MRI and had it written off. Especially for a baby.
An absolutely beautiful story of hope, which in this day and age is truly irrational. May we all have the kind of courage it takes to hope when it really doesn’t make that much sense. Thank you, Mary, and Shanley, for your columns. Somewhere along the line, Shanley I missed the story about what your family is going through. But I am sending you love and hope.
I feel this so deeply. Thank you more than I can say for putting into beautiful words how tender, practical acts offer precious hope to a wounded world.
Another day that you have brightened for me Shanley. We are all bombarded not just daily, but hourly by the atrocities that has been done by this administration, as well as the damage and cost to those of us who are so very vulnerable to them. But, the hope that swells whenever i read your articles truly helps me from falling over the edge, keeps me smiling...sometimes with tears in my eyes...instead of whimpering in emotional pain continues. Reading your loyal followers comments also renews me as well, because it continues to remind me that I am not alone...there are many of you out there with "bridges" that we can cross to each other. Thank you Shanley for bringing us together to support each other. Gratefully, Pat
Made me cry tears of both relief and hope in the face of such loss and cruelty. What a gift you are, both to your family and to the world, precious one.
A beautiful piece of writing, Shanley - straight from your heart. Thank you for brightening my world this afternoon.
Thank you SO MUCH, Shanley! Beautiful. And so many of us feel like you are "family" now, also. Bridges! 🥰
Spot on. Gotta keep trying, gotta be patient.
