Too many, it seems, have become the “good German.” Willfully ignorant of encroaching rot from tariffs to vaccines to lawless domestic military deployment. In Arkansas, I read, the farmers are praying for an economic lifeline—a bail out. I note they voted overwhelmingly for this Administration. I will only add one more point. As former military I am disgusted with the new moniker, Department of War. This from Cadet Bonespurs and Major Hegseth telling us “happiness is a warm gun.” I miss the America of USAID. The America of the Marshall Plan. The America of the shining city upon a hill.

Me too. But, David, I think that for this page in history, it will not be the "Good Americans" but rather the "Stupid Americans" who placidly (or silently and even gratefully) watched and did nothing about the assault on humanity in their lifetime. Stupid because they had it all and they were too stupid to know it and let a charlatan take it away. Stupid.

Your newsletter is the only way I can stomach reading the news in the morning. Witty, concise, sardonic and accurate. Excellent combination!

I don’t know how you do it. You deliver some of our nation’s grimmest news stories and somehow I am left with a glimmer of hope. Blessings to you and Marz and of course the new baby and family!

I feel the same way. At times I feel my head and heart will explode and after Mary’s newsletters, I’m reminded “this too shall pass”. The American people who are for the people will prevail. I’m so ready for Trump and his circus to go back to the shadows or jail, preferably the latter.

Thank you for the spice, Mary Geddry. We are living in insanity. Your reports are spot on.

It has gone beyond collusion, those surrounding Trump, those who found a place to park their hatemobiles and spew their racist garbage have found a home in the newly defanged D.C.. How do Christian pastors sit next to KKK inspired influencers? How do security agencies hire Jan-sixers like it's their birthright? How do we fix this? When do we get a chance to try? Where is the crack in the gilt? And how many of those collaborators will go to jail? Will their shameful Wikipedia page be the only payback our kids get? Like the names "Adolph" and "Hitler" have disappeared from modern parlance, those names of the dictator-adjacent elected officials will be besmirched and kept to a whisper. But how long do we have? Do we still have a country or is the water at that temperature where those of us kicking and screaming are finally getting sleepy and beginning to fall, peacefully, quietly, under the water.

My eyes are misting over and my very being feels energy being drained from it over the words, "Department of War"! This renaming is a resurgence of my worst nightmare. It appears we are inching and itching for a war , a big one, the best yet as Trump would probably acknowledge. I had a FB friend enter a post concerning possible potential Presidential candidate in 2028? Who can even think that far ahead in these troubled times? Even entertaining that thought is a luxury of brainpower and that eludes me. Survival in 2025 is uppermost on my mind. Go cuddle that sweet little giant and assure him we will find a way to ensure his safety! Somehow, someway, it will be done.

The president said the department name change was to clarify he doesn’t want to limit it to defense. He wants to be on offense in the military. The whole thing is mighty offensive.

America isn’t being toppled by foreign armies or natural disasters. It’s being undone like a bad Jenga game, brick by brick, by a man who calls himself a genius and governs like a demolition crew. His hymn is simple: “I can do whatever I want.”

Contrasting "old man Trump (where Melania had to repeat the question to him) with Energizer Bunny Trump (at the elitist Rose Garden dinner) really was night 'n' day.

Whatever they put him on for the dinner wound him up tighter than an eight-day clock. Motor mouth ain't the half of it.

And as usual I nicked it. 😁

Mary, you are a godsend, and we are so fortunate to have the privilege of sharing your perfectly worded summaries of the rot and putridness endemic to our current elected "leaders" in our nation's capitol. I don't know how you are able to continually listen/watch the daily events of our so-called Commander in Chief and keep a sane outlook on life, while crafting these summations for your legion of followers. Keep up the good work.

That history concept is quite nagging. In Germany after WW I the German military was rebuilt as the Reichswehr, known as the Ministry of the Reichswehr. Then Hitler came to power and proclaimed the Ministry of the Reichswehr was renamed the Reich Ministry of War in 1935. But in 1938, the Reich Ministry of War was abolished and replaced by the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht.. So much to look forward to in our current nation under this regime. One can imagine another name change for the Department of Defense to Department of War to who knows what..

Wonder which other government departments may be renamed under this regime? Can’t wait to see. How about anyone else? We’ve already seen the Gulf of Mexico, renamed — So heck there may be more than just bodies of water, government departments who knows maybe he’s got ideas for some state names…

For the Rose Garden now being dubbed as the Rose Garden Club, well that’s a stretch since basically there aren’t many “roses anymore” and whatever that abomination of a redesign is, that was inspired by a patio at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. God have mercy because everything touched by this family rots and smells of shite…

May Edith Roosevelt, Ellen Wilson, Eleanor Roosevelt and Jackie Kennedy’s spirits haunt the entire family and generations to come for the remainder of their days on earth…

Ah yes what a week, the insanity from Kennedy Jr’s 3 hour tour in the Senate committee hearing, Florida removing the requirements for any vaccinations needed for children and so much more but the sheer ending that Mike Johnson is now proclaiming that good ole DonOld was some FBI operative chumming up to Epstein and Maxwell…

Can’t wait to see the end of this Saturday to start a new week come tomorrow am.. Just about 8 hours left in the day what other crazytown batshite will be placed out into the ether to end this week of instability…

Enjoy the new grandchild…
