I am heartsick about the ongoing (escalating, more like) crisis in Ukraine. The West should be helping them - if the US won't, the other Western nations should step up. Certainly the UN should be more involved. First issue, IMO: get Ukraine into NATO.
Next: Tulsi Gabbard revoked security clearance on several people in the CIA. Among them, an undercover operative whose name and other information she released publicly. Why? Because Trump told her to. She later tried to wriggle out of it by saying it was a mistake because she "didn't know." Of course, she didn't consult with other people in the CIA before just jumping in and doing it.
But my point isn't the incompetence of Trump's cabinet, as we all know about that. My point is, if specialized officials in the CIA can be exposed (however "accidentally"), why can't ICE agents have their faces uncovered? Maybe we just need to start rumors that one or another of them is actually an undercover agent, working for the Puppy Killer, spies who report back to her. That'd put the cat amongst the pigeons.
I’m glad you covered the story about the Israeli alleged child sexual offender. I totally missed that news from earlier this month. It is infuriating that he posted bail and promptly left the country. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was assisted in that effort by friends in high places. And as you commented there has been silence and lack of action from White House about this. Birds of a feather! The use of AI identifying ICE agents is a double edged sword imo. In case of ICE, the use of AI should prompt ICE officials to not use masks since they’re not suppose to be masking. Instead Rep lawmakers are talking about passing a law against people using the technology! Another story I read about AI (ChatCPT) and how it affected the mentally ill shooter in Minneapolis was troubling. I like the technology with guardrails and governance and hope that efforts continue to ensure that technology is used appropriately. Thanks for continuing to keep us up to date with all the crazy going on in our country.
The EU /NATO and other European Countries just don’t have the money. They are small players compared to the US. Relying on the US has meant that an increase in spend on armaments has not happened. This situation was never foreseen. Plus they now have the problem of US tariffs and companies are having to lay off staff. Just compare the economy of Europe with the economy of the US
California has a bigger economy than most European countries and Germany the only one with a large economy is fighting off recession. The Western world has relied on the US and no one saw this coming and even if they had there is no way they could compete even combined. The economies are totally different, mostly spent on free or almost free healthcare and guaranteed pensions and social care, unlike the US system.
Happiness is a warm gun. When one reflects on both foreign and domestic policy, it is readily apparent. The pillars of national power are diplomacy, economy, and military. As Mary explains in her comments today and other days, we are losing in the first two. What remains is dark.
In the first, Trump has crippled foreign policy, if one could even call it policy. It is really a steady stream of rhetoric and threat. Denmark asked WTF, summoned our Ambassador, and chastised for our Trump’s creating foment in Greenland. The relationship with Putin as Portugal put it: Trump is a Russian agent. The treatment of Ukraine as the war’s cause is beyond the Pale. And in Israel, we not only ignore the famine—almost genocidal, we refused a visa to Palestinian attending the UN. The unitary imposition of tariffs are whimsical and, as recently affirmed, illegal.
Economically, the full weight of the tariffs has yet to be felt. Seems to me Wall Street is whistling past the graveyard. The folks in KS may have some thoughts, they just lost soybean sales to China perhaps forever (Brazil is the KS for China). No, Japan is not happy with us. India looking at a 50% tariff now turns to China. We are reducing funding for education, health, energy, research yet have money to allow another tax break? The national debt is exploding. Hell, just to service the debt exceeds the Pentagon budget (over $1T). Our turmoil, our growing lawlessness is not unnoticed as foreign governments quietly divest of American debt and bond YTM increase.
But the military? Wow. We may expand the DoD budget to $1T. In lieu of diplomatic engagement we have warships off the Venezuelan coast to force what concession? Maduro’s resignation? The DEI purge? Sure, we are now backfilling the competent with the Trump loyalists. ICE funding now exceeds funding for the USMC as I read. In short, our military is not only our principal tool of foreign policy, it is becoming a tool for domestic policy. Seriously, the army in Washington D.C. ? Maybe Chicago next, then San Francisco? One should understand the salient of the 2nd Amendment was not gun ownership. It was a fear the Framers had of a Federal Army used to impose a ruler’s will over state sovereignty. Posse Comitatus, now violated, reflects that early concern.
As I write, the BRIC gains world attention and relevance. Caterpillar tractors lays off people. A wind energy project suspended. Our CDC, gutted. Appeasement of Putin an increasing stain on America. And the troops pickup garbage in D.C. Swell.
The boiling point is obvious all around the edges…in most homes day to day it’s a struggle-juggle trying to maintain balance ,bleak as news is there’s no giving in…excepting to addictions , which really compound every negative issue.
I am so impressed with the protests and people out there doing what they can…it.does.make.the.difference. BRAVO👏
There’s NOT enough of them anymore so THEY have to cheat more, lie more, cause more ruckus.
There is not a minute available to waste .Keep the resist burners on high and sleeves rolled up. That our gloves are off empowers us . Gavin led that initiative and though timing seemed late -it wasn’t. But it’s still going to take a bunch of us carrying that momentum to turn those culpable into their jail cells..infiltration is still being implemented , folks…and they’ll be waiting in the wings for any opportunity because half of America was duped.
Our next voting should result in a BLUE SWEEP..hello out there..if you’re not on the wagon ..please join the team.

And as always, thank you, Mary - I nicked it.
Huzzah for the ICE unmasking! Make the job harder for ICE and the DOJ! That is the definition of resistance.

Glad to learn about PimEyes. It will get better at face recognition. AI learns fast.
