Your way of contextualizing things into intimate social and environmental connection, neighborliness, say, is a gift as strong as your mother’s wit. I see it as a related intelligence flowing in a different riverbed, sometimes carrying the same water, sometimes different streams. The dialogue is always interesting. You got this.

Well said.

I love this metaphor! While my adult daughters and I are very different people, in our lives and our work we carry the intrinsic nature of the original spring.

Well done! I doubt Samuel Alito has ever cared about the cruelty of his rulings - he and his fellow five Injustices are more in the mould of the Inquisition than the enlightenment.

Another stellar piece, Shanley. The Supreme Court part of the piece clarified those rulings beyond the headlines for me. I have wandered down the rabbit hole somewhat re: the LGBTQ+ hotline issue wondering if the competent Trevor Project would be a plan to sneakily replace with right wing/religious zealots similar to those claiming to provide help in relation to pregnancy/birth control yet committed to controlling women’s health.

I thought that too, or to create a database of LGBTQ+ youth.

And bravo.

Database didn’t occur to me..concentration camps to change their LGBT+ to “zealot normal” did.

I also had this thought while reading that part of today’s roundup.

Excellent job, young lady. You absolutely nailed it, and your ability to weave the daily absurdities foisted on us by the utterly incompetent regime and bought and paid for illegitimate SCOTUS with everyday life is a true gift. You can hit just as hard as your mom, and you often do. The difference in writing styles truly do compliment each other. Thank you for your efforts!!!

Excellent synopsis of todays crises, I especially liked the ending. "So, what ties the day together is the repeated insistence that power should be trusted even when it is visibly failing the people beneath it." When my girls and I were scouts in the 90s, we subtly altered the GS Law. Where it states, 'respect authority' we substituted the next line with, 'when they deserve it,' I did/do not think blind trust for those in power is a skill we want to instill in our kids. Other adults sometimes picked up on it, they usually smiled.

Fantastic!! You and Mary are both so gifted. I feel fortunate to have found you and I look forward to reading you every single day.

About the Roundup ... there should be no labeling issue bc there should be NO ROUNDUP!!!

America is no longer the greatest country on Earth ... hasn't been for awhile now.

Humans are not THE superior species. They are ruining the planet fast and furiously due to their own greed, and creating a living hell for many of their own and other species.

And I'm not even grumpy today :-)
