Despite comments I've read elsewhere, dismantling NCAR isn't as simple as moving various bits and pieces to other locations. At the heart of the NCAR campus in Boulder, Colorado, lies an immense super computer that is used to perform the complex calculations required to model how our climate behaves. As some people seem to think, this isn't some little desktop computer that can just be unplugged, packed into a moving van, carried off to "somewhere else." This computer and its supporting infrastructure occupy an entire floor of the building.
In addition to the super computer, NCAR hosts dozens of research labs, all dedicated to learning and applying as much information as possible about our climate and the weather systems that impact the entire world.
Pay a visit to the NCAR campus to see for yourself. The NCAR Mesa Lab Visitor Center is open to the public and welcomes visitors with hands‑on exhibits, tours, and educational displays.
NCAR is a gem! Amazing programs and incredible hikes near the flatirons. Our state is being targeted because it is pushing back against this regime. There could be many triggers, but I think it's just petty enough that our Governor has refused to pardon Tina Peters.
She was convicted (by a jury, in a solid red district) on state charges of election interference. Her lawyer first publicly threatened armed resistance, now on social media he's warning his MAGA base not to try breaking her out of jail. I guess he remembered that would be illegal 🙄
Here's hoping Marz never lets you pose him in a hat, here's hoping your festive season is a happy one and that goes for all of your supporters, among which I am but one, last but by far the most important, lets hope for a dramatic regime change in the form of either death, destruction or a final nod off. they will quietly do away with every independent research and/or information department in the government. any group that can talk about climate change, the quality of air or water, independent evaluation of nutrition, job numbers, inflation numbers, etc. any group that can stand up and say that the economy is not what trump makes it out to be, that the weather is becoming more severe, that climate change is happening, that joblessness is going up, food prices going up, etc. they will all be gone, just like independent news organizations... thrown out of the Pentagon, and now slowly being cowed into softening the news or not reporting it at all... our only source will be their lies... everything is great, everyone is rich, food is free, gas is free, prescription drugs are free... you will know it is not true, but you may not know just how bad it is....

Space weather..electromagnetic storms and other influences on our planet, the links between our oceans and climate, airline safety, weather, climate, atmospheric chemistry and so much more. The scientists collaborate with scientists all over the world. I was proud to work there when the scientists shared in the 2007 Nobel Prize from the IPCC report. I was laid off due to budget cuts during the Great Recession. I started doing admin support while a secretary was on medical leave in Atmospheric Chemistry Division, then worked in the libraries before having the honor of working as front desk assistant to the NCAR Director.
The 25th Amendment was added to the Constitution for this very reason. But the Amendment was based on the premise that the Cabinet would have Secretaries with courage and backbones enough to rise above partisan politics to serve their country.
