Interesting. I wonder what will happen under oath later this month? Revenge of a woman scorned??

Considering she is no longer a government employee, is she compelled by the subpoena any longer? I don't think Congress can depose civilians?

Good question.

When I looked it up the answer was yes. They just deposed the Clintons who are also private citizens.

Thanks for looking into that. Well, her testimony will certainly be interesting.

I agree.

If he makes promises to her, like any good mob boss would, I expect her to stonewall. If the promises fall through, her future testimony is what I am more interested in.

Amazing that your sense of humor is intact! "in ways that would have been unthinkable in any administration not actively trying to impersonate a banana republic with better tailoring." I need a smile today!

Dear Majority Leader Thune,

Dear Minority Leader Schumer,

The role of the United States Senate when confirming cabinet appointees was never intended to serve as a rubber stamp for the President. Given the blatant weaponization of the Justice Department targeting Trump rivals under recently fired Attorney General Bondi, now is the time for the Senate to demand that any individual Donald Trump may select as AG swear to uphold the Department’s independence and pursue its mission without fear or favor.

The United States is not Hungary. Donald Trump is not Viktor Orban. The Senate has a voice.

Use it.

Regards,

I can’t help but notice that it’s the females being overthrown first—disposable generic hussies that they are in the president’s mind. (Well, okay, in my mind as well when it comes to Noem and Bondi.)

Thank you Mary, your writing of this debacle of an administration is what enables me to get through the days.

My fervent hope is that this despicable human will be, impeached, or otherwise incapable of creating any more chaos for the Country and the World.

Thank you!

Excellent synopsis, as usual, with humor!

“NBC’s reported phrasing is especially revealing on that point: Trump liked Bondi personally, but did not think she had ‘executed on his vision’ the way he wanted. There it is, neat and tidy, like a little brass plaque on the tomb of the rule of law.

“Executed on his vision. The phrase lands with all the subtlety of a mob boss complaining that the consiglieri keeps misfiling the extortion receipts. It strips away the remaining pretense and tells us, once again, exactly how Trump views the machinery of the state: as a set of instruments to be wielded, pointed, and sharpened for personal use.”

After Trump’s attempt this week to intimidate the Supreme Court into ignoring the Constitution, I wonder if John Roberts is self-aware enough to see how he created the legal framework for a malignant President and his billionaires to eviscerate the rule of law.

Re: "He wants a court magician, a hit man with a law license, a fixer who can turn abuse of power into televised strength." I think, perhaps, we could add that he wants a Ghislaine Maxwell. I bet he admired her for decades. After all, he hired a Pam not a Peter. And was his previous "fixer" not Ivanka? And is his other one, is she not Karoline Leavitt?

Now if Florida would only disbar her…

The Trump administration’s incompetence is their only good quality. Fortunately for America and the world, it’s extremely reliable.

What a beautiful encapsulation of what his AG will have to be “..a court magician, a hit man with a law license, a fixer who can turn abuse of power into televised strength.” Would hope that to be a tall order to find such a nefarious stooge to fulfill he’s requirements. In the meantime we have his ex-personal attorney Todd Blanche stepping in and assuming the role. Now he may be considered a front runner, who knows. There is Michael Cohen who’s trying to get into the good graces on his “MAGA redemption tour” in March 2026, Cohen appeared on a podcast with Lara Trump in which he was so pleased to describe it as his first interaction with the family in nearly nine years, and so how he missed the “family”. You just never now who will take this horse race to the finishing line..
