Clinicians debate their duty to warn. Meanwhile, the president cancels his rallies, insults a reporter, un-cancels them, and insists Republicans are up everywhere.
I worry that, when push comes to shove, republicans vote for republicans, no matter what. i have been a democrat my adult life but have voted for republicans, even republican presidents when i thought that they were the better candidate. i have never met a republican who can make the same claim. they march to the polls regardless of the importance of the election, the weather, or whether they think their person will win or not. once there, they tend to pull the lever on all republican candidates as they have been so brainwashed over the years. i suspect that a lot of people with a microphone or a clipboard or e-mail in front of their face will express their displeasure, but ultimately will vote for the republican candidate. this is why the republicans fight so hard against any efforts to get out the democratic vote. if the democrats would ever turn out in serious numbers, the country would change rapidly. i recently learned that Paxton is suing the state because "there have been too many early votes by people of color"... if that does not tell all, i don't know what does... i recently had a conversation with some farmers in MT. they were furious with trump and all his policies. when i asked if they were going to vote republican, they answered as if i had asked if they were going to stop breathing. they each went thru some song and dance about how they nor anyone in their family had ever voted for a democrat... not sure what you do with a population like that... i guess they deserve what they get and should stop bitching... we get fooled by the polls as people can say what they want., but behind the curtain, they are "team players", like fans of the NY Giants or Philadelphia eagles, "their team right or wrong..." knowing what we know about some of these candidates, it is so hard to imagine why anyone would vote for them, but people do. i love the polling numbers but sadly am not optimistic about what will really happen on Tuesday
You are so right. I used to live in Texas. There the ballots are constructed so that the first question is whether a voter would just want to vote for a "straight Party ticket" skipping over the needi to look at specific candidates or what they are running for. Just check "Republican" (or "Democrat" and most of the ballot is filled for you. Also, you cannot skip any parts you don't want to vote for. So if there is an office you were not aware of and know nothing about those candidates, you have to choose somebody anyway, in order to submit your ballot. Texas does not mail ballot information pamphlets to their voters. It is up to each citizen to do their own research to find out 1) what is on the ballot 2) what each candidate is promising. Even so, there are usually surprises you didn't discover in your personal online research. At that point, you just close your eyes and pick a name. Similarly, any propositions for your district must be voted yes or no, regardless of whether you understand what they mean. An incomplete ballot is not acceptable for submission.
My father died of alcohol induced dementia. He was a narcissist but very mild compared to Trump. One of the phases he went through on his path of decline was the loss of his sense of social appropriateness. It was caused by brain damage (Wernicke Korsakoff syndrome) that affects the area of the brain that is connected to one's sense of one's own behavior socially. I see this in Trump more and more often.
When an entire political cabal and its tech billionaire funders empirically are freaks with unpopular, often bizarre agendas that reveal a spectrum of personal demons, no psychologist or psychiatrist can protect us, no matter how astute and accurate the diagnoses.
Our power is in a large community of resistance who votes, speaks truth to and about abuses of power and never gives up.
Alas, the gap between when the voters decide and when something can actually be done is a chasm of potential disaster for us all

I agree
