Fifteen years ago, when our daughter was in DC for her senior year at GW, she and I went to Jon Stewart’s and Stephen Colbert’s live Rally for Sanity and/or Fear - the title referring to their nightly comedy shows taking down the hypocrisy and sabotage of truth and reason that characterized the GOP even then.
How much further into the abyss of insanity and reasons to fear we’ve fallen since then - as today’s Geddry rundown based on truth and reason shows.
And now they’re going after these courageous, brilliant comedians who expose Trump’s derangement and the rabid loyalists who lick his boots.
These newsletters are in the satirist vein - the horrors of what’s real and true served with wit and satirical punches. How long before the Substack and online worlds are targeted?
It’s up to us, as much as reasonably possible, to protest, vote, actively engage as volunteers and - yes - donate even in small amounts to anti-MAGA candidates and organizations on the front line. October 18 is on the calendar: No Kings.
Julie, Me too. And I am there and yes we can. But my worst nightmare is the morning we wake up to no internet. No social media. Nothing but a blank screen maybe with a scary message like, "We will return when we are ready." And when I let that idea spool out, it is horrifying... So yes let's rally rally for sanity and let's leave fear behind. Fear is an emotion someone called imagination run amok. No fear, no kings.
"Between Golf Swings" is the perfect title for a book on bad leadership.
"Sanity on Back Order" is a book about those of us suffering under the Trump regime.
I have to laugh at something, right?
“Auditioning For God” works too!
Mary's writing is a smorgasbord of imagery, said a retired English teacher. I heart it.
Thank you for making me laugh my way out of fear!
So glad you and Marz had some family time yesterday. Please take good care and stay safe!
We all look forward to your letters.
Thanks, Mary!

I wonder how many MAGAts have quietly decided to jump ship and abandon Trump and the entire GOP...?
