Mary, your eloquence sustains me through this dark period in our country. Thank you for continuing to enlighten and inform us as you work through your loss.

Thank you again for connecting the dots so well. When Trump is defied, his rage escalates to maximum retribution. Unleashing a nuclear bunker buster on a target or two in Iran, because their leaders are not bending to his will, is fully consistent with who he is. Apparently, the President has sole authority over a decision to use the nuclear arsenal.

I'm glad to hear your uncle's suffering is over. It's a sad kind of peace--for everyone concerned..

If there is any more written history after Trump--any record that emerges after the deluge--it will be asking one fundamental question. How did the people elected and selected to run the country (and render legal judgements on the running) EVER give themselves so completely to their greed and fear?

This is not a Fifties Western where single hero saves the day or a town rallies to rid itself of a gang of bad guys--Trump's ascension to the throne and his Mad King George behavior reflects a moral rot penetrating to soul of our country; a fatal infection, like in Invasion of The Body Snatchers, or They Live!

If the world doesn't end in an unglorious nuclear catastrophe, our democracy will have to be rebuilt from the foundation up-- Keep up the great work--it IS part of the foundation from which, hopefully, we can rise out the current heap of ashes...

my condolences for the passing of your uncle, and rest assured they are together and aware of your love. thanks for this article, your writing and those of a handful of others provide light and truth in an ever diminishing world of spoken and written statements that cannot be trusted. it is like drinking from a fire hose, overwhelming to keep up with the crimes and sins and greed of this government and what they have destroyed and what they have put at grave risk. they have burned down the house, we can only speculate as to how long it will take to rebuild, and what it will look like when rebuilt. it is not just trmp and his clown cars, it is the uber rich and powerful pulling strings behind the scenes... we are at risk of a world war abroad and a class war at home. the rich have not learned from history either, and as they try to hoard more and more for themselves, they put everything at risk. when people become desperate enough, they do not care any more and will seek whatever remedies they can find. those people may be the Palestinians in Gaza, they may be the people of Iran, they may be those in the US now without healthcare, adequate wages, etc.

Hi Mary- I am sorry for your loss. Grief sucks to put it frankly. However, It is my understanding that when a person dies, their brain dies, and when the brain dies, so goes the consciousness and memories that person once had. None of it becomes anything else but molecules, atoms and energy carriers, which eventually become parts of other beings, water, earth, etc. The person no longer exists at all. It's really a grand recycling, and it makes the most sense in terms of what happens to us. Any reunions or conversations must take place in your mind only. If you have evidence of any other explanation about what happens when we die, let me know.

irreversible."

Uh huh. Like that 214-213 vote along party lines. *sigh*

Re your uncle and your Dad: I can identify with that. I'm not especially spiritual, but I'm comfortable with the idea there's After.
