Wow, what a vivid description of the massive pile of excrement compiled by the Trump regime. The only upside to the Democrats ending the shutdown will be the encore finale of ALL of the deceit, gaslighting, corruption, cruelty, and abuse now coalescing into a perfect storm of reckoning.

Let Congress commence, the Faustian Bargain has expired. The king of Trumplandia is unraveling into a withering, demented, delusional fool. His cabinet courtesans ooze incompetence and malevolence as they all spin out of control.

The proverbial buck stops here. No more shucking and jiving. The rats are cornered. The pitchforks are being sharpened and the torches stoked. Trump and his GOP lackeys are about to be introduced to the American People.

Your writing is poetry. Trump and his kind are an invasive species. They have evolved to eat themselves. They can be eradicated by humanity, decency, and brotherly love; something Trump never learned, something his sycophants have lost, but perhaps a few of minions can rediscover. The master teacher they claim to follow proclaimed “Love one another”. The universe will not remain unbalanced. The eternal laws of compensation will balance its books. The seasons of Peace and Love are just over the horizon.

I looked up ‘were there any winners in The Great Depression’ and was surprised. Another avenue to pursue that might lead to clues who ,what, when, and where, the rich get richer and what many suspect happening..the demise surprise …Mary perhaps will address the addresses.

My husband says just staying home suits him fine, he plugs away , and our bounty of 50 years is a roof over our heads far more than too many can’t claim ‘theirs’. I am grateful .

Count your blessings, mark and date , too many will look back to see too late to change their vote .

MTG does not convince me -far too many of that cult have tried the old ..”what I really meant to say was..”

But where it leads, the dozens ‘doing time’/lost their license/barred from…/labeled war criminal (maybe just criminals)/their ‘ends’ ..has history books full more will be written and another 100,000 dead .

TY all in valiant ,consistent pursuit of peace and equality for all. 🫶

So if Republicans “won” the shutdown, what exactly did they win? All it proved is that the Great Gatsby Party still throws a hell of a bash for its donor class while everyone else picks through the crumbs. Healthcare? Food aid? Affordable living? Sorry, wrong guest list. If they really wanted help, they should’ve chosen richer parents. The country’s memory may fade in a few weeks — but the pain the GOP inflicted and keeps inflicting while pretending to “serve the people,” won’t.

In the meantime, it's still Trump's Amerika:

With Rep Mike Johnson having to finally swear in Arizona Representative Adelita Grijalva, Trump is desperate for a distraction from the Epstein files, even it is starting an unprovoked, internationally illegal "war" with Venezuela.

And how Trump treats it’s US War Veterans of colour who died during WW2. Long post sorry :

A white marble cross marks the final resting place of Julius W Morris, private first class in the US army, who died in April 1945.

But at the cemetery where he lies in Margraten, a village in the south of the Netherlands, a new battle has begun over the quiet removal of two display panels about African American soldiers, like Morris.

Relatives, local communities, politicians and historians have called for a permanent memorial to African American servicemen after it emerged that displays commemorating black soldiers had been removed.

The move has sparked shock in the Netherlands, with critics of the removal, including a community that cares for the graves, demanding answers about why the black American soldiers have all but vanished from displays.

The Netherlands American Cemetery near Maastricht holds the graves of 8,301 Americans who died liberating Europe from the Nazis, including 174 African Americans.

In 2023, the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC), which runs the site, opened a visitor centre and last year added two panels: one on the million African Americans who enlisted but were “fighting on two fronts”, against the Nazis in Europe and against America’s racist segregation policies.

Bas Albersen, spokesperson for the governor of Limburg, said on Monday the provincial government would be making an “urgent appeal” to the ABMC and US ambassador to return these panels. “The displayed panels represented a history that we can never forget and from which we can learn, especially now that differences in the world are ever more magnified,” he said. “They fought for a freedom that they did not have themselves.”

Working for an IT consulting company that has some reliance on H1B workers, I can't say drumpf is entirely wrong. We try to limit our exposure but we do not have enough skilled workers in certain areas. Of course the only reason he is saying it is that he has the tech bros whispering in his ear and greasing his palm.

I'm nor sure it is true that the current bill ""gives Trump unchecked control over the purse strings until the midterms." The bill only covers funding for three agencies and THOSE at the 2025 budget levels. (or 2024? Did the 2025 budget appropriations go through? ) It particularly excludes ICE. To get the BBB in place the House will have to pass 12 new appropriation bills--and they have the holidays between now and the end of January.

They COULD have stayed in session and worked on those bills during the shutdown, but no: fear of Epstein. And with the release of the emails this morning, that is now a really hot topic again. It is true that because of the way the BBB was passed there can't be a Senate filibuster, but in both houses there are going to be folks contemplating their chances of re-election and wondering....Even simple majorities may be hard to get.

If the twelve can't get passed by Jan 30 a new CR will be needed. And THAT can once again be filibustered.
