Shanley, this series is amongst the best stuff you’ve written. Your political analysis is excellent but your insight into the human condition is pure brilliance.

Such wisdom for one still so young makes me wonder if you are an old soul…..or perhaps a young soul who has managed to catch the essence of humanity like lightening in a bottle.

If all mothers of the next generation teach their children the way you teach yours then the world may right itself after all.

This was so heartfelt and so real. I have an almost 8 year old granddaughter who is an old soul and says things that almost make me cry. She is so caring. I hope she can hold on to this as she grows older in this crazy world.

I read multiple essays a day and that was the best essay I've read all year. 🙏 Thank you, Shanley. 🫶

Precisely what the world needs to read right now.

Shanley, you have such a wonderful way of expressing what we should all already be aware of, but sadly we do not spend time in reflecting on our actions and behaviours in real life.

Your essay is true food for thought; thank you.

Beautiful. I worry so much about what children are facing these days...

Makes me think a bit about some of the positions I took as a professional in the public sector....some not so popular when I took them but, in hindsight, mostly correct and moral. I think about grandsons, ages 11 and 5, and my wish to help them become the people they will need to be in order to make a difference in a troubling world.
