That's a great piece of writing - thank you. I love all raptors, and was delighted to read about all the preparatory work. I'm not too far from the North Yorkshire moors, so I hope I may spot one in the future.
As the week wears on I have become so accustomed to bad news that I forget this good news piece is coming my way. And when it appears in my email my heart does a little happy dance! Thank you Shanley!
Very interesting. I did not know about this reintroduction of the Golden Eagle in such detail before - presumably because it doesn't directly involve where I live in North West England. It's good to read that dedicated people are being so conscientious about something that could so easily be done superficially and clumsily. As Shanley says, there is a message for us all in this tale.
Thanks for this.
A very well done, and heartwarming piece.
A hopeful reminder of what can be and what is possible.
Just what I needed after reading yesterday’s “Oldest Debt” essay.
This is great. I am reminded of the story of the reintroduction of the bald eagle to the eastern United States, in the 1970s, told by the woman who did the cutting edge work. Tina Morris, Return to the Sky. https://www.forbes.com/sites/grrlscientist/2025/01/21/return-to-the-sky-by-tina-morris---review/
A lovely essay. Thank you. It is often the things not in the news that make the greatest difference.
Wouldn't it be wonderful.
