My conclusion is that Putin sees Trump's presidency slipping away and has decided to call in his chips with whatever leverage he has over him before Trump loses his power.
That is why we didn’t get that bipartisan Lankford border/immigration bill passed, despite how ‘urgent’ border security was. Trump wasn’t even in office, but he directed the majority in the Senate to kill it because he wanted to campaign on the issue. I submit that no sane person would cause ‘life-saving’ bill to stall out just for a campaign advantage. I also submit that no sane elected official would comply with that demand just to appease that person. Vote Blue up and down the ballot!
Removing, by Executive Order, Congressionally approved sanctions on Russia has laid bare the fact that your concurrence with Vladimir Putin and his expansionist aims exceeds your willingness to serve the interests of the United States and our European allies. That being the case, might I respectfully recommend you board Qatari Force 1 and book a one way trip to Moscow so you can be at his side and serve at his behest.
Heads up, however: Don’t be surprised if Vlad doesn’t show you the same degree of idolization as you have conferred upon him. Recall what he does to people once he’s through with ‘em.
Good article about so much wrong with our country.

My Dear Mr. President:
Removing, by Executive Order, Congressionally approved sanctions on Russia has laid bare the fact that your concurrence with Vladimir Putin and his expansionist aims exceeds your willingness to serve the interests of the United States and our European allies. That being the case, might I respectfully recommend you board Qatari Force 1 and book a one way trip to Moscow so you can be at his side and serve at his behest.
Heads up, however: Don’t be surprised if Vlad doesn’t show you the same degree of idolization as you have conferred upon him. Recall what he does to people once he’s through with ‘em.
