Oh, Mary, that last paragraph is coming way too late. We have already been bulldozed by this man and we have sat here for now 14-15 months waiting waiting waiting for the midterms as the horror has unfolded, his criminal minions kill indiscriminately and our beautiful country has become a dangerous place to live for anybody not white and male. We have become a mockery of the world. Boy what a huge case of schadenfreude our neighbors and allies, not to mention our enemies, are having.

I don’t think this war was ever about helping Iranians form a new kind of government, or nuclear weapons, or installing a kinder, gentler government. I think it’s about two racist, egotistical, greedy, power-hungry, old men who want more oil, more real estate to develop, and millions fewer Muslims getting in the way of that. Think of all the golden resorts that could be built with that oil revenue! Think of the leverage if the US and Israel shared control of the Straits of Hormuz! Think of all those remaining, battered Iranians who will be happy to grovel for work to buy food and water after their land is pulverized like Gaza.

How bizarre that, in a purported constitutional Republic of elected representatives, one pathological mad king can continue to cause devastating harm to our nation and much of the world with the consent and complicity of those around him, Congress and the Supreme Court.
This disturbing reality suggests our Republic is no more, at least at the federal level. Our best hope is its resurrection in the November midterms, which is why defeating the vote-suppressing, misogynist Save Act is so important.
