Two comments:
I'm guessing that you quote polls and supply real facts for us (and maybe yourself) to bolster our understanding of the fact--and to have some hope that things will, eventually, change for the better. ...But I'm know you don't imagine that Trump will resign because he realizes his situation is clearly hopeless or it dawns on him that he has done something wrong... He is way past "realizing" anything and obviously, has never been burdened by anything resembling shame...
Also, you make a solid case here--one we might hear from from the lead prosecutor at an impeachment proceeding or in a Federal court... All points adhering to the letter and spirit of the law; all points proving without a doubt Trump's blatant violation of the Constitution, The Ten Commandments and the Boy Scout's Oath...
Trump will never leave The White House the way Nixon did... No human law, constitutional principle or standard part of human nature will cause him to reflect, think, or consider leaving. We have to hope that some higher principle will eventually apply here or that the will of the people might be expressed in some way none of us can currently imagine...
Amazing that he would think he was welcome in the West. The West is on fire and he is holding back FEMA funds from blue states. Thank you for another excellent piece.

The market timing discussion should be read in the context of the offer from Trump to give advance notice of what he is going to say on 'truth' social to anyone willing to pay him $100,000 a MONTH for the timing advantage in the market. How many professional insider traders have bought access so far? No doubt the timing is expected to pay for itself, at the expense of everyone else.
Fox and its tawdry equivalents must be bending over backwards, or worse, to keep their viewers from noticing the corruption and the lies.
Our nation’s fate now depends on turning disappovers into voters. Some find it too difficult to navigate legal and logistical obstacles to voting. Others are persuaded there’s no point in voting because “both sides are the same” or “Democrats will eat your children”.
We can help bolster pro-democracy turnout. State and local Democratic parties and independent non-profits need volunteers for GOTV, voter hotlines, poll place monitoring and other election support. Donations are helpful especially in critical down ballot races.
Would that we had a press and media like we did during the Nixon years: No FOX, no Ellison owned CBS, no Musk owned Twitter (X), no Bezos owned WaPo, no RW echo chamber, no RW Disinformation Machine. There is a large part of the popuation that will never see the facts that Mary Geddry so eloquently lays out here, and if they did see them, FOX would insist they are fake news. the comparison with Nixon is a bit flawed... in the days of Richard Nixon, there were plenty of people in the republican party who would (grudgingly) admit that he was a terribly flawed president and they would disapprove or not vote for him. in the "age of trump" he has a cadre of supporters who are dyed in the wool (no offense to sheep everywhere) trump supporters who will not disapprove regardless of circumstance. that number last term and this term floats around 30%. not enough to get elected even with the flawed system of the electoral college etc., but i do not expect to see the poll numbers drop below 30 or 29%, within the margin of error. this group of people has stopped thinking (if they ever did) and line up behind their man regardless of what he does. it is some innate fear of being proven wrong, or thinking that changing ones mind is cowardice, or the facts and policies dont matter, it is team trump for better or worse or even worser!! he is stealing from everyday Americans, and the pattern is so familiar that no one even fusses about it any more. announce some deal with Iran or anger at Iran, always over a weekend, and right before said announcement, various traders make billion dollar moves in oil futures literally minutes before his announcement. the markets open, oil moves way up or way down, and his insider traders (most likely including himself) make billions of dollars. i wonder if a goal is to tank the economy, keep picking fights with people then do what despots throughout history have done in democracies... declare a "national emergency" and cancel elections or seize ballots, etc to ensure his grip on power. every fact, every bit of data, every response from a person or another country that he does not like is declared fake news or disinformation. Climate issues, health issues, the state of the economy, vaccines, Iran, etc. like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, just say it three times and click his canky heels together and "it is so"... economic facts, chemical facts, things that are awfully hard to refute are simply thrown out and his loyal 30% follow along. i am not sure whether they actually think about it, believe it, or just take what he says as marching orders. i am reminded of discussions with the uncle of my ex wife. he had a masters degree in engineering, a well educated man, but a far right zealot who swallowed any and all conspiracy theories from the far right and would send them to my wife at the time. when confronted as to whether he actually believed any of the stuff he forwarded, his answer was "if i would like it to be true, i will believe it to be true". said with a straight face and no shame. this is what we are up against...
Does he really not understand how tariffs work, or is it just a total disregard for the fact that US citizens are footing pretty much the whole bill for the increase in prices of all imported goods? I fear that the second option is more likely to be true, given the exemptions for certain essential imports from Canada in his latest round of punishment.
The whole world is now wise to the TACO Mondays that follow threats of annihilation, a situation that not so long ago would have been unthinkable for a US President. Sadly, as you point out, the markets have to react even though they know the likely outcome.
It is a relief that the wider public has started to question and even to see through the manipulation; when November finally arrives, let us hope that the beginning of the end (or perhaps, as Churchill said, 'the end of the beginning') is in sight.
