From America’s failing schools and ICE dragnets to Gaza’s forced evacuation, institutions crumble, human infrastructure is discarded, and the tide of cruelty keeps rising.
We've been off course as a nation for many years. Drifting on perceptions of greatness without doing the work to keep that engine of success oiled and ready at all times. Crumbling infrastructures, lack of direction in education, low wages, poor healthcare, and little to no direction by our elected legislators to change any of the aforementioned. Forever wars have been more important than the needs of the people and our country. And now, with this tragedy of an administration, we face even more deterioration. We are a resilient country comprised of proud people, however, the bells are not tolling in our direction. The dance is not over yet. Keep the music coming, please! Thanks for your words, Mary. They help all of us to stay in the game. We are not giving up our shot! Not yet!
Yes red flags were/are everywhere. I’ve been away from education environment for a long and hadn’t realized kids at high school level were failing basic core classes. The education system needs…something…teachers need to be able to teach and kids need to want to learn and I realize that is too simplistic.
An astute Israeli analyst for Haaretz (a leading Israeli news outlet with excellent “truth to power” journalism) calls the Netanyahu government “evil and indifferent”. It’s an alarming harbinger of where we’re headed to see hundreds of thousands of Israelis - representing a clear majority- protest in vain for an end to the Gaza madness and return of the few remaining hostages.
Like Putin and increasingly the Trump cabal, Bibi couldn’t care less what most of his subjects want or need. That’s how and when authoritarian power shows its ugliest face.
The most telling news is the nexus of Money and Money Laundering with Jamie Dimon, a brilliant banker not being able to remember under oath about doing business with Epstein - a sex trafficking for the rich and powerful. Follow the money.

Mary, regarding the Doha strike today, if I were a conspiracy theorist, I might think that the timing is directly related to Epsteingate. Don’t look at the involvement of Trump and Israel regarding Epstein, look over here at the bombing instead. What do you think?
What do the younger minds think about when it's clearly not words and numbers put together in anything resembling a sentence or an equation?
Yesterday I read every word, slowly, about jpMorgan and Epstein. Superb reporting and gruesome read about greed.
Thank you, Mary, for this concise description of an immense mess: "Israel frames this as a fight against Hamas, against “terror towers.” But when every tower is reduced to rubble, when every corridor of daily life is made unlivable, it’s clear that human infrastructure itself has become a target. What is being destroyed is not just a city but the possibility of a future within it."
How is it that for years Qatar has allowed the rehoming of leaders of Hamas? Can't blame Israel for wanting to kill them.
Once again, Mary Geddry, you nail it. THANK YOU! Did you read the Guardian’s article on Gaza this morning? I’ll try to send the link to the article. The photo of the woman leaving Gaza, pulling belongings on a piece of scrap metal while an overloaded truck and lie clad man are beside her is so poignant. https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2025/sep/09/israel-gaza-city-evacuation-order-idf-military-offensive-live-updates-middle-east-crisis-latest-news?CMP=share_btn_url&page=with%3Ablock-68c0201d8f082ce45fde02c2#block-68c0201d8f082ce45fde02c2

It's not ALL bad news. Just think how much Trump is saving the taxpayers by cheating on his Oval Office Décor...
