If constitutional strictures regarding state control of elections are ignored in any state, the question of legitimacy arises immediately. If people are elected via a non-constitutional process, their status in the Senate or House of Representatives is not legal and will therefore not be recognized as legitimate by a large chunk of the rest of the country. You then have de facto secession, do you not?

It sometimes seems the active masters of our national horror show - Miller, Vought, Vance, Johnson, Thiel, Musk, other MAGA billionaires, etc. - are keeping Trump occupied with buildings and monuments to himself so he doesn’t wander off or trip up their strategies to prevent Democrats from winning midterm congressional elections.
Getting out the vote for MAGA opponents and protecting voting, ballots and voting machines from regime interference (including FBI seizure) are the challenges ahead.
Whenever I hear Trump utter the phrase "it will be beautiful", alarm bells start to ring. I wonder where he got his sense of florid Baroque style taken to ridiculous extremes? When you envision "Trump meets Edward Durell Stone" (who designed the Kennedy Center) the image is nightmarish.
