My vote was cast and mailed the first day I received my ballot with a giant YES for Prop. 50 and tonight I will go outside , stand next to my American flag which flys next to my "No Kings in America" sign and take in that lovely Beaver moon. Your words help make today's nervous energy a little less and my hope for the future a little more. I had put my flag away several years ago because I felt it didn't represent me anymore, but now, I'm taking it back on my terms. Let us hope we see many victories tonight as we struggle to land on our feet and begin day by day rebuilding of this beautiful country. "This is what democracy looks like"!

Good reminders, again. Nancy Pelosi is so good and has been for decades. Glad she's from my state.

Bummed it'll be cloudy and rainy tonight and tomorrow night down here in Brookings, but will be thinking of that spectacular moon anyway! 😉

Thanks, Mary. Hoping the clouds part for some stargazing tonight. Today I will ponder all the ways that democracy works in our world. I will include the decades I worked at a democratically owned and controlled food co-op. Food and democracy is a powerful alliance.

Hand delivered my Prop 50 vote to the ballot box @ the County Seat two weeks ago and confirmed my YES on 50 vote has been counted online. Am sorry to see Nancy Pelosi retire—she’s been a dedicated public servant. At 85 she deserves the pension she has more than earned working for the people of California. Thanks for the moon review —I needed something to bring that natural perspective back to importance.

I must say I was impressed with your description of the huge solar flare. I think only one thing is larger in the universe. It is our human conceit. So in our cosmic microcosm we should rejoice. I am commenting on the morning after. Mamdani, Spanberger, Sherril won not on political abstractions, but the kitchen table issues. Trump in his fatuous comments said “If my name had been on the ballot…” Donnie, bless your little heart, your name was on the ballot. Go no further than CA proposition 50.

I am going to say something nice about Dick Cheney. I didn’t agree with his politics, and Mary captures it well. I offer he was a good, conservative Representative from WY and did a good job as SecDef. His neocon advocacy and unitary executive BS had one unintended effect, it pushed me deeply in the Blue. Despite all, I respected his loyalty to our country. It is notable he voted for Harris to spite Trump. RIP.

I'm a day late to this. You keep me in-the-loop for "real" news (may CNN, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, et al. get their comeuppance) and I suspect your points on local offices have taken root in many places - I have the advantage of knowing the results from yesterday's elections.

Now we all need to keep the momentum going!
